The W995 is a Walkman phone the absolute top class. From design, through to technology, here everything is just right. Also regarding the operation stands by the W995 other Sony Ericsson phones in nothing, this is very simple. The menus and submenus are very logical and clearly.
Visually, the W995 is very, very noble. The snazzy slider phone boasts a brushed and perfectly processed aluminum finish (the phone is available in black, silver and red), with chrome-colored buttons and chrome surrounds on the two internal speakers. The 6.6 cm Crystal-Clear display is the stylish appearance on the icing on the cake. The back of the phone is also made of brushed Aluminuim. On the sides of the phone are also chromed buttons for the Walkman functions and trigger the camera. The volume control is kept black. Postponed course comes the keyboard to light: The außenrum white lighted plastic buttons are Gunkel gray-plated, on a light gray-metallic-colored plastic base. This slider phone looks very stable. That way, the slider function applies: The mobile phone is not rickety still shaky. It crunches and not creaks when pushed too.
The operation of the W995 should present no major problems Sony Ericsson connoisseurs. Here has not changed much since the K800i. That's a good thing, because so far were all Sony Ericsson mobile phones are distinguished by their their impeccable service. The menu is very clearly structured and explained virtually by itself. The voice quality (in the UMTS network) of the W995 is really very good. The sound is clear and not tinny. You can ask the other party quieter or louder than the side volume knob. Voice dialing is the W995 also on board. This I did but so far, as in previously all other phones that I had before, never used.
Main selling point for me though was the truly outstanding quality of the W995 Walkman. As I am about 2 hours by public transport road every day, it is important for me that my music phone also offers a correspondingly good music quality. This is the W995 also perfect. The Walkman Player version 3.0 provides, in conjunction with my Sennheiser MD660 headphones (for this there's a separate review), a unique good and clear sound (though the supplied headset from Sony Ericsson also not much worse. The mobile phone has, moreover, a Headphone connectivity via 1.5 mm jack).
The Walkman player features a 5-band graphic equalizer and a half-dozen preset sound settings. The addition in 3 stages separately controllable, Clear Bass reproduction is excellent. Operating the Walkman player is simple. The music quality through the two internal mobile stereo speakers is also not bad and does not sound so quäkig, like my predecessor phones. In conjunction with a Bluetooth speaker box is the sound, like the headphones, first class. Here I can give you the Parrot Boombox recommend (there's also a separate review to).
In my opinion, the playback quality of music files is better and also be heard louder than the Sony Ericsson W705.
The graphics performance of the 6.6 cm display is 1A. Whether own pictures or pictures, or the pre-installed pictures, screensavers or games ... everything is rendered with high resolution, high contrast and razor sharp on the screen.
However, the 8.1-megapixel camera is purely decorative (it is, however, significantly better than the W705 and W910). In daylight, the image quality is very good when it gets darker, the image looks, despite xenon flash, autofocus and face detection no longer quite true color. The video recording quality is, even in dim light, surprisingly good. Shots in daylight are very good with the video function: The sound is indeed minimal noisy, the picture is for very sharp and detailed.
Battery performance is also okay. For me, the battery keeps good 3-4 days (although one should not forget that I good six hours the Walkman player in operation have at this time, on the phone, use the WAP network and also been playing off and on). According to Sony, the talk time, amount to up to 350 hours, depending on the network, up to 10 hours and the standby time.
Praiseworthy is the 8GB Micro Stick, which is included. Here you can, depending on the size and compression, up to 6,000 songs store (z. B. as a 3GP file). The mobile phone has an additional internal memory of 100 MB. The internal memory is, however, already occupied by about 40 MB (with 7 different games, demo videos and various application programs. This can be deleted but partly). For delivery approach also has a good headset (with in-ear rubber earplugs in 3 different sizes), a USB cable and an installation software CD-ROM, for use with a PC.
Sony Ericsson has the phone also have donated some nice entertainment applications. They're not really exciting and no real reason to buy but a nice pastime.
