I bought my plate twice and operate both a Raid0 a composite. The achieved speed is great. When you start programs is hardly a charging time available, even Photoshop starts unusually quickly. The start time of my Windows 7 (Ultimate, x64) could be significantly shortened. Furthermore, I must admit to have never had such a quiet drive. At idle, both boards are almost not heard and even with write access will be only a slight humming was. The heat development during long file Transfern is also completely under. Both plates are lukewarm.
My advice: If you're looking for an alternative to SSD drives, with regard to the write performance can access courageously here. Of course, I realized that you can not compare directly with a Solid State Disk this product (the performance in SSD drives is again much better), but you will find a good compromise between disk space, performance and price, if two of the Barracuda's running in Raid0 mode.
