Among the lesser known works of the repertoire for harpsichord they sometimes hide masterpieces. This is the case of these six sonatas Azzolino della Ciaja, Italian composer born in Siena in 1671 and died in Pisa in 1755. The structure is fairly constant - each sonata begins with a toccata which is followed by a canzone - but the richness and thematic variety are surprising and the writing modernity surpasses that of Domenico Scarlatti. The DDD registration ensures a very good sound quality. This is undoubtedly a CD that any passionate harpsichord listen with joy.
