Western Digitial is for some time soz. My "home brand" because I have never been disappointed by WD (as opposed to another major HDD manufacturers!).
In addition, you can mEn rely on the volume information on the WD website (for a "Silent Lover" like me that's important). There the plate with max. 22 dBA specified and that means in practice that it is really very quiet and low-vibration running. (A possible good-disconnected is of course still recommended.) I daresay: A Quieter plate is one hardly find!
Otherwise, it's just more of a data plate, the LT with me HD Tune provides the following values.:

And now for the negatives:
In other reviews, or the WWW often reported high Load / Unload Cycle Count information. I am sorry to confirm so:
The WD10EZRX now has 4960 operating hours with me and comes to 40812 Load / Unload Cycles. A second about a 3/4 year sooner or later purchased plate has approximately 1200 hours of operation and approximately 11000 LCC.
In comparison, my WD Red (WD30EFRX): 2526 hours / 2715 Load / Unload Cycles.
I have not now time wdidle3.exe pulled the Western Digital's tool for help (which is free but against WD NOT EZRX series!) And actually: The idle timer is activated and is by default to 12.8 seconds! This means that all 12.8 seconds moves the read / write head when not in use to the park position. If you extrapolate the time about, would that my two WD-greens mean that at 300 000. LCC (which according to the HDD. Should provide WD) about 35 000 operating hours were achieved, now based on my usage ratios times. However, it is reported on the Internet also have much more blatant relations. Then you have to expect that the HDD faded away.
You can create by wdidle3 remedy, but that should only an advanced user (and of course at your own risk!) Into consideration. For this, the hard drive must be operated internally only and the tool wdidle3 must be started from a small DOS operating system via CD or USB stick.
One can then, for example, the idle timer to 300 seconds (= 5 minutes) put (a complete deactivation is with the tool, at least in the current version 1.05 no longer work).
This whole procedure is but (at least until you time ever worn all information together and everything prepared for initial use) extremely laborious and also to do it at your own risk - all just to prolong this absurd short set idle timer and thus the lifetime of its hard drive to increase potential.
In my eyes this is a built-WD "breaking point"!
When WD Red instance (at least with my firmware version that was delivered by it) the idle timer is disabled completely!
So I advise everyone from getting this hard drive to buy, who do not want to struggle with the "illegal" use of WD tools wdidle3 or can. I myself would perhaps have access once again, because I now know so the procedure and the application itself is no longer so expensive if you have already prepared everything (in my case, a burned CD with DOS operating system and the tool) - as long as it is guaranteed in the way at least to set the idle timer to a reasonable value (perhaps no longer works, the use of wdidle3 yes zukünfigen with firmware versions yes!).
An audible click, as it is also described before in other EZRX when the read / write heads ride in the park position, but I can not find here my silent PC is otherwise also completely silent, the sound would be so not drowned.
Actually, 2.5 stars, so that is a cross between "I do not like" and "not bad".
