The story itself is rather dark and complex. But never mind. Wallander is back. It is not at its best, haunted by his demons, he still decided to resume work after a rather impromptu visit his friend, the lawyer Sten Torstensson, who ended up being found dead a month his father. Coincidentally, heinous crime?
No, it hides something much more complicated.
A man is curiously Wallander in the crosshairs. Harderberg, for a man, respected, a business tycoon, but also a pillar of good works. But it is a difficult man to approach. No picture exists of it. Wallander will yet meet. And something will mark: it is that smile that displayed in any circumstance.
One thing is certain, this novel is very striking, the characters are more engaging, we know them well, and we even feel like part of the family.
For me, so far, this is the best Mankell with "The Dogs of Riga".
