It's not really a very compact camera because it does not pass in the pocket of trousers like Sony RX100 or the new GM 5.
At most it can be put into a large jacket pocket or coat and is rather comparable to the new LX100, LX100 but has a fixed goal.
The sensor is a photo MFT 16MP therefore, very efficient and probably the same as in the GH3. It is much larger than the 1-Inch Sony in the RX 100 or who develop RX10 20 MP, but smaller than the APS-C as in the Nikon D7100 (24 PM) or sony A6000 (24 MP). MFT is also the format that we found in the GH3, GH4, Olympus OMD EM1 and EM10 boxes which are very, very powerful in the 1,500 Euro. So it is not junk.
This camera is totally underestimated. The price has meanwhile dropped by several hundred euro because the dévellopement costs are amortized and that it is long enough in the market. But the equipment is up to par, it was called either hardware or software.
Lumix has not skimped: The viewfinder is one of the best on the market and all the elements of the case are very upscale.
For example, the electronic viewfinder is not only very high resolution but also swivel upwards.
I think it is a compact Lumix GH3 and has put in everything that was technically possible. Similarly, the handling is superb.
The 14-42mm which comes with more or less at the height: In the subway, the camera photo absolutely perfect, outdoors, overcast and distant scenes, it really means and lack of sharpness or detail . To exploit the potential of this case, I use the objectives Zuiko 12-40mm PRO f / 2.8 (860 Euro), PRO Zuiko 40-150mm f / 2.8 (1,400 Euro), Leica 25mm f / 1.4 (500 Euro), the Zuiko 12mm f / 2 (690 Euro) and a dozen others who also serve on my Lumix GH3, GH4 and Olympus OEM-M10 and M1.
It is no secret: A good case deserves good goals and they cost the dough. But it is not up tires manufactured in Vietnam on a 6-cylinder Mercedes.
But there are exceptions like the Sigma 19mm f / 2.8 (170 Euro), 30mm f / 2.8 (170 Euro) and AF60mm f / 2.8 (164 Euro).
I give you the price indication, it's those that I paid, it certainly changed.
I think currently available in this category all the best performing top game boxes and I did not hesitate to part with a device if it is no longer up to it. In recent months, I sold my GH2, LX5, Canon EOS-M, Sony HX300V and others, so that the GX7 is one of the oldest of my equipment, but it will stay for a few years in the family since it is technologically far ahead of his time, such as the Citroen DS 19 in the years 50-60.
I can only award it 5 stars and recommend it as it is also very robust and versatile. It's not fake, far from it!
And at the price it is now, well worth the money ...
