The bar is metal with a plastic center grip that will not slip. The screw locking system is the highlight (with two plastic screws). The weight of 2.5 kg each are made of filled plastic (cement?). The big problem with this is that the dumbbell weight have a diameter of 22 cm, limiting range of motion.
FYI, the dumbbell comes with an exercise booklet unfortunately entirely in German.
