The Canton DM 50 is here by a (!) Optical TOSLINK cable connected to a twin satellite receiver. This provides, in addition to HD TV / DD 5.1 also radio programs and through the built-in DLNA client music from a NAS server.
The technical data are indeed largely nachlesbar as far is only worth mentioning that the system performance against the DM was 8.x doubled to 200W, which is also due to the smaller enclosure was probably necessary (bass performance).
Furthermore CANTON has built a sound control! This is m. E. absolutely in such devices necessary because the different facilities of their living rooms have a decisive influence on the acoustics.
The FB leaves a high quality, solid impression. Where most people these (additional) will use probably not. This has been the company probably thought and DM 50 so developed that it can be programmed to existing FB'n. Direct hit!
Also very pragmatic, there are 2 modes: Surround and Stereo.
Let's start with Surround. Since I have some experience with sound bars behind me, I was here an extremely positive surprise. CANTON speaks fair, Front Surround and accurately that it is even. Both 2.0 (Dolby Prologic) and in 5.1 (Dolby Digital) material spans playback through an angle of about 120-160 degrees, so does not reach the front semicircle entirely. Much more important, however, that playing within the sound field is very homogeneous. So not a diffuse, thin out test image, but concrete, tonally harmonious sound events within the semicircle.
The reproduction remains clean up well above room volume. The two 10cm bass driver at the bottom of the housing can also convince in our 26m2 rooms. Here and in consideration of the neighbors which is perfectly adequate. The bass is rather fast and impusiv than massively profound. Den could shoot by connecting a suitable sub's in very different spheres of inclined listeners however.
For music playback, it depends crucially on the recording technique, whether surround or stereo is better. Classic may sound great in surround, rock / pop and sometimes off the mark. That's with us not as serious as for music headphones are used, but the radio blare and Partying (Bluetooth function!) Is the DM 50 more than adequate.
In my estimation, Canton has got off to a great product here. The price / performance is still so just fine.
I am therefore extremely pleased ...
... And I'm rarely :-)
