The manual is far too inaccurate for technically minded people. After several phone calls with Tefal I could at least bring in the following experience:
1. This model is not programmable. The amount of water can (albeit with intermediate amounts) are set via the controller.
2. After 50 liters (machine actually measures the flow rate of water) of the cartridge replacement is displayed. For this, however, the first cartridge must already be registered (during commissioning) the machine: red and blue button and hold together, after a few seconds the LED will then blink and go out shortly thereafter successfully registered = cartridge. It is run out of the spout any water!
3. The Claris cartridge should be rinsed prior to use (also is not in the manual but only as a note on the cartridge packaging) = cartridge flush some time under the tap.
4. There are two different displays of the lamp (available in the English manual, but has not been translated accordingly!):
A: LED flashes to be changed during operation = cartridge needs
b: lamp lights steadily during the operations = decalcification due
So far so good! The first device that I have received, provided at least 84 degrees of hot water, however, registered the cartridge not (instead spitting it after flashing water) -. Lt Tefal defective. About the volume and spraying but I could not complain, that was okay. The fast (thanks to Amazon!) Supplied replacement unit was exactly the same misconduct in the cartridge registration and delivered only water with a temperature of just over 60 ° (not acceptable for black!) And went back also.
Conclusion: Good idea, but not systematically implemented. Volume selector useless, since you can at any time stop the flow by pressing the button. Manual deficient! Claris cartridges clearly too expensive (I would use the device only without Claris with differently filtered water).
I now have the EFBe Schott glass kettle (incidentally, also produced in Germany) with no frills and am satisfied! I turn to stop from just in front of the "visible" cooking when I just want to boiling water and since I anyway use filtered water, there is no chalky deposits on glass.
