### Image Quality ###
The 700D has the same sensor as the 650D and the 600D already.
In fact, it is exactly the same camera as the 650D, with only two differences: The mode selection wheel can now be rotated 360 degrees, and the kit lens is now the (very good) 18-55mm STM.
In this respect there is to report nothing surprising. The picture quality is good for the APS-C range.
Already here I would like to briefly touch on a difference from the 70D and 6D.
The 70D features a new sensor with more megapixels. In my non-scientific tests I could not detect any major difference to the higher frame size. The noise performance looks at the 70D a tiny bit better than the 700D.
The 6D contrast, has a full-frame sensor. This means on the one hand a significantly better noise performance. You can take the 6D at ISO 6400 make photos that roughly correspond to the ISO 1600 noise forth on the Eos 700D.
For shooting in low light, a full-frame sensor is always the better (and more expensive) choice.
In daylight, it does not matter so much.
### AUTOFOCUS ###
The 700D has (as already the 650D) on 9 sensors that are all designed as a cross-type sensors. This means in practice that they focus more quickly in doubt because both vertical and horizontal contrasts are registered. All Canon Eos models below the 700D have only one cross-type sensor while it is the way sensors are "simple" in the.
For the price, I find the autofocus system is more than adequate for most applications. It is very nice that the external sensors are cross-type sensors.
Short By comparison, the 70D even has 19 cross-type sensors, the 6D has indeed total also 11 sensors, of which only one is a cross-type sensor is (but for a "Super-cross-type sensor", the in near-total darkness still works).
### TOUCH ###
The swing-out and rotatable touchscreen is a sheer delight. I wish my 5D Mark III had this screen.
Operation is intuitive and ergonomic thanks to the touch screen, and the Live View shooting is also easier.
### Live View ###
Here now separates the wheat from the chaff.
The 700D, like all other digital SLRs except the 70D in Live View uses an autofocus system that is not the fastest. Especially, if you switch from digital compact cameras, here is surprised often over the lazy focus.
Nevertheless, the 700D through the touch screen it is acceptable to take photographs via LiveView.
Much better but that goes with the 70D, which has the dual pixel autofocus. Which is much faster.
And even better is that with mirrorless system cameras.
### VIDEO ###
You can twist Full HD video with the 700D. Much better succeed but with the 70D.
After all, the 70D can in live view (which you have to use the video shoot) focus quickly and silently with the two new STM kit lenses. When 700D one is in the video function to manual focus dependent, unless the object moves out of the focal plane. As a video camera, I would prefer not to 700D access (and up to the 70D nor to other SLR cameras, if you connect no louder professional accessories commemorates eg. A rig, an external microphone, a Focus Shifter, a glider, etc.). On a tripod with a constant focal plane, the 700D makes but a good figure and provides good video.
### ### ERGONOMICS
While the controls of the 70D are similar to the bigger models 6D and 5D Mark III, the 700D has on the operating concept of "favorable" Eos world. This means on the one hand, that on the back of no second wheel to adjust the aperture or shutter speed (depending on what you're used and how to configure it) exists. To change the aperture you have to press a button and then turn the top (only) wheel. However, this will (almost) as good.
Otherwise, the camera is very comfortable to hold.
The closure noise is quite high frequency and not pleasant. This may cause a little better and the 6D 70D much better. In between, I used to have a Nikon D7100 in their hands, and their sound was a feast for the ears (though I had there to 500 images thick spots on the sensor).
The 700D does not have a silent shutter mode, like him have the 70D and the 6D.
### BATTERY ###
While the 6D and 70D, the same "big" battery use as well as my 5D Mark III, the 700D is content with the somewhat narrower batteries. This hold by not quite so long, but I could always make more than 500 photos (through the viewfinder), before I had to change the battery.
### BLITZ ###
The 700D features as opposed to 6D via a built-in flash.
This should however only be used as possible to lighten shadows in outside faces. For sensible flash photography is (as with all other cameras also) a flash in the hot shoe (or direct lightning away from the camera) need to be able to rotate in different directions, thus avoiding a direct flash of the opponent. For this I would recommend beginners to Canon 430EX (or cheaper alternatives from other manufacturers).
### LENS RECOMMENDATIONS ###
Those who opt for the 700D, should definitely set a fast lens.
Highly recommended is already the 50mm f / 1.8 II from Canon or the 35mm f / 1.8. However, the 40mm f / 2.8 STM is very good, sharp and fast-focusing lens, albeit a shutter fainter.
### CONCLUSIONS ###
With the 700D you get a very good price for the camera.
For bad light can make do with a high-intensity fixed focal length. Who has the wherewithal and want to take a lot in dark indoors, should look once the 6D.
For animal and sports photography, the 70D is due to the better AF system the best choice (in addition to the 7D course that I have hidden in this review).
Who needs wireless will find it in the 70D and 6D, but not with the 700D.
I answer questions like on the comment form.
By the way: For the 70D, I have written a separate review, which can be found by clicking on my name.
