WeTab OS = Garbage, Hardware TOP, very good usable with Windows 7, the display is not quite as problematic as under Linux under W7!

WetabOS is still even after div. Updates, what it is to be had from the beginning. This is also nothing more. 42 having been screwed up. Since each Ubuntu runs better :-).

After plenty of reading into the subject I have the WeTab ordered last week. Of course, knowing that WetabOS still nothing is good, and there is no way to Windows 7. Of course, only in combination with 2GB RAM.

Problem on WeTab is apart from the crappy standard software (unfortunately includes the OS with a) the strongly dependent on viewing angle touchscreen. But under Windows the whole falls to no longer as extreme as under Wetab OS. Turning the tab 180 degrees, it's worlds better, but is unfortunately modest in hand (focus on top), and therefore no permanent solution.

The score 20/05/2011:

- Unpack WeTab, charge only once. How can you provide a device with completely empty battery?
- WeTab turn, activate, register with fake data at 42 (which probably do with it ...)
- Find that the WeTab OS as expected is modest, also updates change nothing on it
- Switch off the unit, consider how to proceed
- Install 2GB RAM Riegel
- Prepare USB stick with ExoPC 133er BIOS, then flash once, from now selectable each time you start Setup or BBS by touch, important: Magic Bytes remember
- Windows 7 shrinking with RT7 Lite and write on USB stick, also important here: Magic bytes off pagefile div optimizations.
- After installation Treibergedöhns W7 install, note order, otherwise BT / 3G problems, restart always good
- Touchscreen update of 1005 1006 now also multitouch, important: during flash process not touch tablet lay on flat surface during update, and touch screen only, otherwise firmware update FAIL FAIL = = Touchscreen anger preprogrammed
- Install W7 SP1, could be, for whatever reason, not slipstreamen when shrinking, so post-install
- Install Required applications
- Install FrontFace makes wait a good impression, testing

The score 21/05/2011:

- Device like display 16: 9 = excellent, iPad: 4: 3 = no longer appropriate
- With a fully fitted and adjusted Windows 7 (HP) quite usable
- Everything works: multitouch, video drivers, Huawei 3G + Mobile Partner, GPS, WiFi, BT, Gyro, ... -> 32bit W7 HP, the memory footprint of the 64er is for these purposes overkill and therefore only wasting valuable resources!
- Note to the gyro sensor: The thing is though active after the drivers have been installed, but: You have the sensor in Windows only arming, saying the screen rotation to the sensor pair, otherwise there doing nothing!
- With front Face Touch GUI very easy to operate, with Exo PC GUI also
- Battery life 4h with something suboptimal is, but certainly can not optimize WLAN eats properly battery, 3G should be possible to 6h.
- 10 charging cycles are also far from being reached, ie the specified capacity will yet completely yield.

SSD upgrade is still pending, more than half is the major programs has been with W7 +. Problem here: Intel 310 Series 80GB mSATA is nowhere available, and then only at exorbitant prices. Apparently there was in any WeTab Forum a user who has, from wherever, ne new firmware for the Sandisk SSD concerned. Have even after hours of searching found nothing of the sort. The new firmware is supposed to have speeded up the performance by a factor of 4. I believe, however, only when I see it!

I stand today are three known SSDs tested. Two pieces, each with 64GB, an Intel 40 / 80GB, which is not however available. The other two are not exactly brilliant. Has anyone said firmware update for S2 32GB Sandisk PSSD present?

Weight technically quite n tough nut to crack, but is only a matter of habit! My purpose leaves it to (sofa, office, train - no outdoor usage planned).

One star deduction for the abysmal operating system software with which the WeTab is delivered. Value for still unbeatable. Who has a W7 left and not afraid of tinkering, will be rewarded with an absolutely satisfactory setup. Apart from the display, which, however, not so much notice as described under Windows, especially if the brightness a little up or rotate the device through 180 ° turns :-).

Update 24/05/2011:

In the meantime, once tested in Ubuntu Netbook Edition, in terms of hardware, it looks not at all times from bad, just with the touchscreen optimization, it is so ne thing. Windows is there a lot more comfortable. Must still ne .NET WPF Gui for W7 build me the stuff there is in the market, is either overpriced, not yet mature, or is good for nothing.

Update 01/06/2011:

Meego UX 1.2 can be installed though, has in my WeTab but the jumping bug pointer result. The touch screen becomes inoperable, since all the time the pointer up and abhüpft. It seemed that no other problem. Perhaps also lags on Build? Meego looks definitely very interesting, I have to pursue. Hardware Technically everything has been detected. Even the Huawei 3G modem could be immediately persuaded to function.

Update 05/06/2011:

Have me a 64GB SSD KingSpec fetched, but is not recognized. Either defective or not compatible. So but Intel 310 Series. KingSpec was grossly overpriced anyway. Meanwhile, the Intel SSDs are even halfway back available.

Update 10/06/2011:

Hab mir ne Intel 310 Series SSD with 40GB concerned. Additionally required of space can be easily connectable via SDHC card. Boot time has significantly shortened, operation is much smoother with the new SSD. Read rates of 170MB / s and write speeds of 40 MB / s. More can not cope with the Atom CPU anyway, and let's face it: When do you need this service?

Drawn previously with Clonezilla an image of the complete SSD Sandisk SDHC card, for installation on the 40GB SSD back into the game, with partition GParted to full capacity expanded, run!

Update 11/06/2011:

Android x86 driver is technically not exactly brilliant. Zusammencompilieren Image is not a problem, but then goes in terms of hardware as good as nothing, resolution depends on 800x600, Bluetooth spackt, graphics acceleration is disabled, touch screen is the D & D mode. Finished Images there should be, but not for the WeTab. Therefore, a lot of rework to the drivers is announced. As a "one man show" but time almost unstämmbar. Wait and see!
