My speakers are connected directly to a Sonos amp that is always "on" (super-low power mode) and produces music on demand (that's the idea).
But I also wanted to listen to other sound sources, including a digital piano, a digital battery, an old cassette player, etc.
One solution was to connect these devices and Sonos on a traditional amp and the amp on the speakers; but it supposed to let the amp still on, which is not very environmentally friendly, or turn before using it, which is very inconvenient.
Another solution was to connect all devices on the traditional amp, amp and traditional on the line input of the amplifier Sonos Sonos and on the speakers. It works a little better but not completely, because the Sonos has a line input lag: when playing on an instrument sound from the speakers after it has played, which is somewhat strange. In addition you have to go set the line joining the Sonos app, which is complicated and clumsy.
(A third solution would be to have two sets of speakers, but it takes up space, it's not pretty and it is expensive).
But with this switch, it is happiness !!! The switch is connected directly to the speakers, and outputs "speakers" of traditional amp and Sonos amplifier are connected to the switch. I usually do not touch anything, and if I want to listen to something other than Sonos I just have to turn the amp tradi and change the switch, without tinkering else - no rendering time and absolute simplicity.
