I have several incompatibilities and therefore know quite a few air filter.
I run all the time no air filter. What for? When I open all the windows, the air is relatively well from outside. I live in a pedestrianized area, 250 meters from the forest. I left him still run a few hours, so the smell evaporates, turns up more often in new equipment. But every time I turned on the new air filter, a surge malodors came out ("chemical", somehow bitter).
I removed the filter, sniffed it. The True HEPA filter smelled minimal after og fug. I suspect, rather, it is the case, because the unit smells something at rest. Although this also has a plastic case, but is this hard plastic - not like this air purifier whose gray side is made of flexible plastic.
Today he is the Fellowes AeraMax DX5 air purifier in small, ca 6m² hall. The smell was "stunning". Slowly the air purifier cleans off his own smell. However, even after a few hours the room still stinks. The filter is still in good air !?
It shows in the hallway "clean" air, although (leather) located here shoes, jackets and a carpeted floor. This has not yet been sucked today, but I and my dog ran several times through. Once the smell is not even after many hours completely gone, I take also from the test. In the corridor is currently the worst air the whole apartment.
The design is tasteful, the operation simple. The principle of automatic adjustment to the air quality standard for modern air purifiers. You can manually adjust the fan in 3 steps.
Unfortunately, the filter was with me for a few minutes, as the filters were bagged. It may be that this is one more reason for the foul odor of the filter currently in the early stages, so set shortly after auströmt. That alone makes the 2nd point.
My conclusion: it is by far the worst air purifier, I know. Even if he would irgenwann smell times neutral, I will not recommend it!

The company did Fellowes also send me a replacement unit. When unpacking, I noticed exactly the aforementioned smell already. Oh good grief, I thought, even worse than the first!
I introduced him to the first use night in the hallway that smelled so strongly ill again., In the basement. But he was at least 3 weeks. He ran naturally without filter, because

I looked after the filter regularly. First the cellar smelled afterwards, but after a while the smell was ok ... until I turned off the fan. So I turned off the air purifier to have about 2 weeks.
I cleaned the surface with a microfiber cloth and a mild soapy solution. But I took still "the" was smell but mitllerwele much thief.
I ultimately the whole body * abgeschnüffelt * and am sure it is up to the 2 white containers (see my comments eingetellten photos).
I increase my rating still scarce on 3 stars because of the sensor, ie the recognition of the burden of indoor air is relatively sensitive.
In addition, the Platikgeruch seems to be in the price range is not so rare. In Biel Meier 280000 HEPA air purifiers are some reviews, where also a bad plastic odor is mentioned. Curiously, this is called non-continuous - just like here in this series of Fellows.
Moment during the operation hardly smell. Thus, the model is now in my small kitchen and I am amazed at how bad the air is there. After 30 minutes on the turbo air has become noticeably better.
We can only hope that Fellowes eliminates this problem, then it would be quite a useful air purifier - and then would be a Hepa filter without the very controversial Santined layer in the program, I would even buy it.
For sensitive people, I recommend the Fellowes AP-230PH PlasmaTrue Medium-sized air purifier, white / silver, even if the sensor seems a bit worse. Anyone looking for a really good air purifier should be the Blueair air filter 270EK110PAW (there are also cheaper models from ca 300) or the Carbon Active 200Z activated carbon filter 200m³ Grow / h odor filter especially for the bedroom.
