Top:
1. There is a Chromebook - no Mac, no Windows.
2. It is made for the cloud - much depends on the ability to be "online" and so be it.
3. It works very well with almost all Google services. Who Google for Work (fka Google Enterprise) used to worry about their data needs to make. Who in the "consumer version" used Gmail pays the product with its data - point. (I pay for the "Google for Work" instance like 40 euros / year).
4. You get 1TB cloud storage as a goodie - equivalent almost $ 240.- US for 2 years free on top of it.
5. Thus, you get a great netbook (no laptop) for 139.- Euro!
6. The RAM can be doubled to 8 GB RAM.
7. Wake-up from standby: phenomenal time of just 5 or 6 seconds.
8. Boot time to the login window: phenomenal in about 10 seconds.
9. No AV software required, no system updates that I have to install it manually. The boot sector is always checked before the start of compromising data and changes.
10. The SD card slot: I once allowed myself 128GB SDXC to enjoy movies and other media can also offline. With quality goods you're there with this 95 Euro.
11 etc. etc. etc.
Flop:
1. The keyboard is not illuminated - but it keeps me so the battery good for 10-12 hours at a stretch or 5 days with sporadic usage (without turning off, but stand-by mode).
Update 02/11/2015: Offline is the Chromebook also very good to use. Last night a lecture. The documents in Google Drive are automatically taken from the CB "offline" and it goes quite well without an Internet connection to use these documents. Quite a pinch, a MiFi or mobile phone can be used as a hotspot.
Furthermore, I was looking at my favorite search engine to lecture associated images. The tabs I had left open, and the content was cached offline. Students also the CB found quite appealing.
