Customer Review

I bought my iPad 4 64GB. Since I already have an iPhone (5) and a MacBook Air (2012), it should serve primarily as an eBook replacement and as a weekly (time) as e-books through iTunes for a are not readable on the MacBook and I I on the other hand presented a more pleasant reading.

First contact.
After my tears had dried on my account because of 700EUR big hole, I closed the iPad to the MacBook. Here is paying off the iTunes Verdongelung: After an hour the entire contents were (apps, photos, eBooks, etc.) on the iPad, even the most common settings were copied from the iPhone. So I felt right at home, without having wasted even the slightest time for establishment. That's about the way to move into a new apartment, and everything is already so since as in the old.
The iTunes coercion is indeed a very double-edged sword, who, however, it admits, experiencing the maximum comfort that is sought with security at other systems for free.

Design and processing.
There are some things that just are not necessary to be written. This includes this point. The iPad acts as a unified whole, is absolutely perfectly finished, it has no flaws, the display will of course no dead pixels. It sums up like a stone. The design is well thought out fine, the thick edge is great for touching, thin it should not be. The somewhat sharp volume control only bark, risk of injury is not here. For my sense of transition between aluminum and glass is a little too sharp, it is thought for a long time with one hand, it may already be a little uncomfortable - but is a luxury problem, and I'd rather have such a thin device.

Technology.
How many Apple users I allow myself the luxury and stands above any MB / GHZ information. From the iPhone I'm used to that there is not even the slightest hint of an impasse with no matter what application. This continues the iPad almost the same continued. Everything is immediately open, jerky apps or even waiting times does not know this device. However, sometimes I have the feeling that there is an air of hooks here and there. Whether me it only stands out, because I have the iPhone as a comparison, I do not know. For example, the app "Words with Friends" but one or two hangers. Is this due to the app itself? I dont know. A book to open will take about 1/2 second. Yes exactly. 1/2 second. I mention this as something that speaks for the level of my criticism: This is namely the only one where I've registered any load times.
The display is sublime in all grades and earned his myriad of laurels.
The battery lasts forever, I'll go from 10-15h in use from. The loose enough to bridge all non-socket times. Is funny that hardly battery lost in standby mode. The CPU must therefore probably have an enormous sleep mode. More battery is of course always good, but I think here it is just when technically feasible. Charging is by the way relatively flux in about 3 hours.

Application and everyday.
I use the iPad, as mentioned above, especially for reading. There were also some very useful things like account management (Outbank), movie info (IMDB), geography (Google Maps) or Internet Radio (TuneIn Radio Pro) and of course for Games
One thing first: He who says he uses his iPad as a "PC replacement", never sat on either a PC or has such an unpretentious life, that he needed no technology anyway. Of course, replace the iPad - even with the provided apps - not even approach the comfort of a file system, a professional writing program or other. My MacBook I'll still yet for many out - for my thesis or for scientific work, for example,
However, it is quite possible to move a lot of things from the iPad. Surfing is fun, even though many, many websites are not designed. Vulnerabilities are especially complex Java sites such as car configurators, scroll-over menus in many shopping sites and of course Java. In my opinion it is much more pleasant to surf on the laptop. Just about everything else is so good to do exactly on the iPad as on the big - whether it is better or just stylish ... is certainly a matter of taste.

A few excerpts for practicality:

Read: books there to Hauf in iTunes, but more on that later. Reading is a good deed, to come very handy features such as bookmarks, the ability to comment and mark. The marked areas are for example collected in a list - so I have of the books the best quotes in an overview. The ability to read in the dark degrade the rest of eBook reader into a niche product.
Newspaper: The time can be downloaded for a week currently 4,49EUR. That's probably a little more off the newsstand, but I skip this, because I read them certainly not a week, but more intense than in cumbersome paper. The navigation is to the older generation in nothing. Benefits are partially interactivity with built video and audio samples, and the possibility of them indefinitely, and probably for download again. That is an eternal archive without space. In addition, of course all back issues can be purchased afterwards. 5 Stars.
Account Management: power with the aforementioned app fun and you easily keep track. All class.
IMDB: Sitting on the couch while watching the film, the actors and the background, is simply bombastic. Information when and as much as you need.
Radio: Even class. An AirPlay enabled device, of course.
Games: plenty of choice, even for free, and many of which have addictive potential. The completely buttonless concept is implemented well and brings a whole new feel.

Overall, the usability is not just given, it is also yet to be implemented perfectly. The iPad is easy to productive use possible. The work's just fun with it. A special indicator is my mother, who has said for the first time to a piece of technology that they would buy it immediately. It has immediately convinced. And we are talking about a man who has long refused digital cameras.

iTunes coercion.
The new generation of users do not want to herumfrickeln computers, command line and know by heart tricks. You want the "it" works. And that is why iTunes is predestined. Anyone who enters into the system, receives an ever synchronous fleet of devices, shopping and managing is easy and transparent. Purchased apps can understand until the first day, as well as books. The shop is a logical and appealing.
The selection is huge. I still have missed any books that are not even there somewhere else anyway. Likewise, all the books are due to the fixed book prices - even as a blessing and a curse-part - the same everywhere expensive.
As always, this security comes at the expense of freedom. Buy books anywhere else? No. Installing apps from somewhere else? No. Install additional features? No. The system, which characterized the rest gained an incredible stability must be taken as it is. Who's something worth his time, it will accept with kiss.

The big down side, however, is that you look a bit further obliged with every purchase at Apple - No one who has a lot of money on the AppStore, is swirling at once to Android and lose all content. This naturally leaves a bad feeling, to be dependent on such a rigorous company.

Compared to other products.
Here I am, unfortunately, stocked a bit sparse. the only thing I did as a comparison, a Sony Tablet with Android 4. The pixel display can make me sick, the usability overwhelmed me - how can you construct a device that you can not even turn intuitively? - And the content and the "Flow" are disastrous compared. Certainly, however, it also played in another league.

Conclusion.
To put it in a nutshell: A convincing in all areas of product. And to put it again to mention: Who's time is worth something, has no choice. 5 stars "Perfect"? No. For this only leaves the iTunes forced a bitter aftertaste. Who can be sure already that he his life Apple products can afford and wants?
