I also own a previous model, the Bamboo Pen and there had the same problem: The rough surface wears the pin tips so that you can watch. With only moderate stress, my tip is ground down significantly after just one day. Guys, this is not at all! Wacom has advertised that the surface intended to simulate the a sheet of paper. Funnily enough, the pro models all have a smooth surface!
So I got me a role more transparent Tesa film, cut and pasted on the active surface. The pen can now use more comfortable, does not wear much further and the touch functionality is thereby not impaired.
Downer remain the non-functioning interface to the wireless kit and the "tail-heavy" pin. The problem wirelessly I can not change, but the pen reminds me of something that it is top-heavy and thus easier to handle.
Otherwise, the tablet is nice and small and works excellent. The programmable keys are great and you can even save all shortcuts to it. One key is with me occupied with Cmd + Alt, so I can change the brush size and hardness in Photoshop quickly with the stylus. Also -at least for me new- radial menu is awesome. Placed on the secondary button on the pen, I can access 8 configurable functions / shortcuts.
The upgrade from the Bamboo Pen has been more than worth it and if / when I need time tilt angle while drawing, I'll get out the old Intuos3. This is at the active surface are also more than twice as large / bulky.
