Customer Review

The offered Kit (X-E1, 18-55, 50-230) for currently called price is definitely recommendable, provided you come with Fuji-typical "quirks" deal. I myself have had so far used next to my Nikon (D) SLR system already Fuji and Fuji X100 S5Pro and was at some Fuji quirks. For newcomers to the Fuji system therefore may be getting used to the training.

It is expressly noted that older reviews, which are laid down here (eg from 2013) reflect a significantly different firmware version and therefore not necessarily representative of the current delivery status of camera and lenses (see. See also the review of Mansurov at photographylife.com ).

After this preface now very briefly to the characteristics of the camera and the system:

1. pluses X-E1 and system:
a. housing
- Very good quality
- Very good (conservative) interpretation of the operation
- Good grip of the housing (not as good as DSLR, but significantly better than eg X100)
- Light weight
b. Lenses
- XF lenses with excellent metal processing and good movement rate of controls
- XF lenses with excellent image quality
- XC lenses easy, inexpensive, good image quality
c. Image quality of the camera
- Excellent sharpness and resolution for a 16 MP APS-C sensor
- High ISO qualities in full-range!
- Very natural color reproduction

2. minuses X-E1 and System
a. Electronic Viewfinder
- Does not have the clarity and precision of an optical viewfinder on
- Is overwhelmed with very high contrasts with a differentiated image display
- Jerky occasionally something
b. AF
- Quite slow (although much faster than initially)
- Contrast AF getting used to for DSLR photographers
- Adjustment of the measuring field cumbersome
- Irritated when using close-up lens (diopters)
c. Readiness
- To slow booting the camera (although much faster than X100)
- Tripping delay (in conjunction with leading a certain inertia to the viewfinder, that is not exactly the state finds in the photo, the one at the moment
has seen the triggering)
- Battery capacity considerably too low (always take 1-2 extra batteries!)
d. Operation
- At XF lenses zoom and iris must be adjusted to the lens, which requires embracing and thus is slow
- No transfer of the aperture setting of XF lenses on Rückseitenrad possible (standard with XC lenses and therefore faster
Usability of these lenses!)
- Interpretation of the various lens rings of the surface too indiscriminate (VA 18-55, 50-230 better)
- No change of aperture setting on 1/2 or 1/1 aperture possible
- No start of Aufsteckblitzes EF-20 by pressing the shutter button possible (must from auto power off by pressing
be booted the Power button)
e. Exposure
- Usually 1/3 - 1/2 EV too bright

Conclusion: Despite the described disadvantages of their presence you get used to and that can be partly offset by altered picture-taking experience, the camera with its lens is an ideal, lightweight, space-saving solution with excellent image results. For the serious amateur photography I prefer the VF-DSLR I've configured by the operator according to my needs that I "obeys his word" and by their large real-image viewfinder (which, incidentally, also in the small Fuji X100) I see as the world how I want to see it.

PS: The subsequent attachment of an eyecup (standard not provided!) Removes the criticized top heavy recognizability of the viewfinder image with higher contrast or backlight conditions.
