In order to understand what the new set provides or does not provide you have the publication history of the original music know a little: When I bought the music for the first time, there was only the old LP-cuts on LP or CD, the original rare double LP was halved content to episode 5 on LP and CD (40 minutes of music). 1993, there were finally a magnificent 4-CD Anthology box with the re-release of all LP tracks and supplementing it with time still unpublished material. Also a great thick booklet was there with informative and very extensive text material sowei with beautiful photos and artwork. There were 4 Picture discs with to 70 - 80 minutes of playing time. For each film, there was a CD. CD 4 contained complementary musical material to all 3 parts. For the 3rd film (Episode 6) lacked totz over 35 minutes supplement Unfortunately many great tracks from the middle part of the film! Among the 35 minutes but was also the first time the original film version of the chorale Victory Celebration, which was unfortunately replaced on the old LP by Ewok singing the same tune. 1997 enabled the Special Edition of Urtrilogie with their appearance on the big screen a new CD-Collection, which was content the best version yet on the market: For each film, there was a double-CD with (also known as rare book cover edition with laser-engraved CDs) the SE logo from 1997, each of which offered the very complete, chronologically ordered Score first. Most won Return of the Jedi! But at the same time lost 2 tracks of the old LP, and the choir and the Victory Celebration Ewokversion from 1983, since 1997, a new music for the victory celebration at the end was composed of Episode 6. The old song in Jabba's palace was replaced by a new (better). In the booklets of 1997, there were an equally detailed discussion of the music and all the tracks as in 1993. The booklet was enriched with photographs of the then-new Special Edition. 2004, music has been released again. Here, the CDs were content 1 of 1997: 1 over. However, it refrained from 2004 unfortunately entirely on all texts to the music of the films in general and to the tracks. There was only one booklet posters and an Internet link. It was a step back! Now in 2007, now comes out the edition offered here, which content the 6 CDs of 1997 version again 1: 1 takes over! Unlike 2004, there are text information, but NOT track by track Analayse (!!!), and since 1997 finally an appealing packaging. In addition, a CD-Rom with images of artworks and posters / Cover of the old, the above issues, as well as a sampler with tracks from all 6 movies. The sampler is also available separately! The selection of tracks on the compilation could be much better and more extensive. Where is the love theme from Episode 2, for example, to name just one example. Those who are not so long here and have the double CDs of 1997 version not or do not have an old Star Wars score, which I can highly recommend this new edition entirely. Who this new edition is too expensive and who wants to have exactly track descriptions, I recommend the CD editions of 1997 with the SE-Logo (the most beautiful in the time strictly limited book cover versions with the laser-engraved CDs) and as a supplement (only if you really want to have it all) the old LPs (or the first CD issues, which the old LP-cuts contained) from Episode 4 (intended for the famous old LP of John Williams music section) and Episode 6 due for 3 tracks / versions which has not been published since 1997. The film version of the Victory (!) - Celebration of the original version of 1983, Episode 6 there was only at the 1993 4-CD Anthology !!! Too bad that you have not used in this new kit the opportunity to at least the old Victory Celebration - to take on the music of John Williams from the old movie version of Episode 6. Unfortunately, there is no track by track Analayse as in 1993 and 1997. Therefore, 1 star deduction!
