The first fairly positive impression of the Dell 2413 is put into perspective by comparing to my HP2275w (year of manufacture 2008) with PVA panel. In parallel operation, I check the two monitors with the Eizo monitor test. From the Eizo site can download the trial software. Here it becomes clear that the built-up panel of the Dell monitor the Basic Color check has a distinct green tint in the bottom left corner. Add to this the very uneven illumination of the panel. An approximately true black seems the U2413 to be impossible to represent. Compared with the PVA panel of the HP the black of Dell's more of a dark gray, which further increases depending on the viewing angle toward gray. At the edges of the screen real estate of the Dell stand before all in the corners on lighter shades, which make the black screen appear mottled. Pixel errors were, however, not be determined.
The green tint is unnecessary the subject image editing, at least as far as the inclined users planning to want to work as binding. For games or office applications, the monitor is certainly useful, and I personally can not get used to the color inhomogeneity me. My eyes wander always on the false color. Video Look I feel also problematic. The non-black edges brightened by other image formats (eg 16: 9 or 4: 3) nervous easily.
The IPS panel technology combined with LED as backlight is here not the last word. I will, willy-nilly have to rely on an older monitor with CCFL backlight and with another panel (ev. PVA). Otherwise I'm going to I want to stay properties catalog for a monitor can hardly take into account.
It has proved to be an illusion, unfortunately, to acquire a relatively "cheap" monitor that delivers on all the promises that are expected product marketing or the characteristics. To be fair to say that Dell does not stand alone for the rest of the problems with IPS panels and LED background illumination.
I rate the monitor just with three stars. One point deduction for the color cast and a further unacceptable for the Black and poor illumination. If the problems in a new revision can be solved, the Dell U2413 is interesting indeed.
