1. ... how to run H.264 encoded MKV Movies (720p / 1080p)
2. ... can I play .avi series or HDrips it?
3. ... as a network attached storage (UPnP / XBMC Server) is detected?
4. ... the machine is really so sluggish in the menu, as it is criticized?
5. ... the noise is really "loud"?
6. ... both run USB inputs with NTFS hard drives?
7. ... see the bottom ... there's a conclusion and an impression after 2-3 weeks use!
Now I have it and could test it!
1. MKVs run without problems if they are not encoded with VC1. However, 99.9% are h.264 encoding = Easy :-)
Forward goes with a maximum of 6 minutes of film per second real-time. Jumping in "xx: xx minutes" not going.
2. All Easy! (DivX is rather an unusual format - Xvid is the standard .... why could not DivX test).
3. Easily Detected, but he wants probably not MKV files over the network stream (hence only 4 stars). But over USB it's all :)
4. It is "normal". Clearly there is no PS3, but it is not really disturbing. Runs slightly slow, but this is "normal" navigation speed for DVD / Blu-ray player or TV.
5. I regard something empfindlichh .... but the Sony is the norm! Sounds like a 7200 / min hard disk .... Just as a comparison value.
6. Contrary to some posts on the Internet, both USB ports (and even at the same time) to operate!
Conclusion.
So I am satisfied on the whole. Who attaches great importance to all kinds of data formats, Blu-Ray player is probably better off with the Samsung 5500, but I keep it ... but only because I have a Sony TV and have no desire to send everything back ... it served its purpose. Plays everything is consistently (MKV / Xvid) from USB and plays 1a Blu Rays from!
7. UPDATE: Conclusion
I have been able to play all popular MKV's and AVI's :-) DivX use I do not as I say, and can say nothing - DivX is but as far as I know is out of date ... Does not matter, I am very satisfied. There was an MKV file that did not work, but that could change with the program "HandBrake" afloat in a sociable MKV (HandBrake is available for Windows & Mac). But a "umkonvertieren" is very very very rarely necessary - with me so far only one time! HandBrake is for novice users to easily understand itself. Movies / series that come via USB, not run with 24p (which is at Samsung but even so) but for stutter-free 1080p / 60Hz. A small damper for 24p fans, but you go so easily on BluRay. Where 60Hz playback via PC nodular runs as 60Hz over the Sony player. Maybe he processed 24Hz and then pulls it up to 60Hz?!?!?! No matter - I'm out of the mix of BluRay & HDD satisfied about my media to give him again and can highly recommend Sony television owners :-) Even the DLNA works with the computer without problems (except for MKV - Samsung not). Who has a Samsung TV, but should also buy a Samsung player. Not while looks better, but with a remote control is playable and Samsung halt explicitly MKV's support and DivX also dominated. Although I am not brand loyal, but only one remote control is to have beneficial ;-)
