From an outdoor smartphone I expected me the following:
*) Waterproof
*) Shock and temperature insensitive
*) Torch function
*) Photo function for snapshots
*) Important for Communication Apps
*) GPS / Maps / Navigation
And best of all met the Xcover2 perfect!
The flashlight is ingeniously simple to adjust the volume (+) button down.
Screen - Volume + Hold down = flashlight
Volume Press = torch
The camera is also called by its own button on the side.
Comes with Android 4.1.2
Speed is surprisingly good.
There are installed 4GB memory, of which only about 1 GB is available for free apps and data.
But that was good enough for Whatsapp, Hangouts, Google+, Flipboard, Drive / Dropbox, Gmail / email and then are still 500MB free.
And who udgl his entire music collection and photos from graduation. wants to save it, can still use a microSD card.
The Xcover2 I take whenever I do not want to watch it - for example, when Windsufen, SUP (paddle) and on the beach - just that it's perfect! Everywhere else I've plugged my S3.
Both have their permission, you have to just be aware of what you want / need.
Update from 30.6.2013 - coarser flaws in display = 1 star deduction!
1) 2 deep scratches (ev. Of keys) may not be at an outdoor mobile phone!
2) of approximately 7mm extreme "insensitivity" of the touch screen (at 2 devices occurred in the bottom of the screen!)
Selection is either not or only by X-times tests at different positions possible
CONCLUSION: a pity to me it would be good 50, - have been worth more if it is a meaningful display / touch screen would have been built ...
