Having flirted with a change I took, the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Xperia S under the microscope.
The best overall package offered to me clearly the Xperia S. I can not really understand why the Samsung is so hyped currently.
Now to the actual rating:
:::: :::: Positive
Display
-------
First I noticed the madness resolution of the display. Pixels are not visible even with the best will in Hiawatha. Everything enormous razor sharp. The colors are rich, strong, but of course. Sony built here no Amoled screen, but an LCD. This is my opinion, but absolutely no disadvantage. The comparison with an iPhone 4S Screen Sony wins in my opinion, with ease.
The screen size 4.3 "I feel as perfectly managed. The Galaxy S3 and One X are somehow too clunky. The Xperia here has the perfect display size. Everything can be easily operated with one hand.
Who an i9020 be called before self, is not rumkommen a "Wow". We promise!
Storage and transfer from PC
-------------------------------
32GB are before a word. As is also mal ne larger MP3 collection.
The transmission of images and data is very easy via USB cable. The Xperia connect, then you get the option whether you want to install the PC Companion or accessed without software on the device. The Companion I have not tried it, but only the Directorate access. Everything is very tidy and well presented with folders Media, Music and Photos.
Compared to the Nexus S a tick better because it does not look as messy and lying around a wild pack of messy data.
Transmission speed is fast. The transferred are automatically recognized.
Walkman or MP3 player
-----------------------
The Walkman is Sony's domain, so you would expect here also strengthen rightly. I can after prolonged testing and sample even heard that both audio and visual of the player is a real feast for the eyes and ears.
The pure Android 4.1 player of Nexus is already really good, but Sony is again on it a few blades. Much better is my judgment here. Many options for both sound and image for.
Camera, photos, videos
---------------------
The camera and video quality is absolutely outrageous. Even shooting in dark rooms or parties are of the quality is really good. Your'm actually inclined my digicam to sell and put now only on the Sony. The quality would have to give up.
The videos in Full HD make a lace impression. At Youtube a few samples are to be seen.
Settings are enough available here. So you can for example Auto Adjust Photo Smile etc. Really nice gimmicks.
Text entry, Swipe
------------------
Although you can also download Swype keyboards androidtypisch in PlayStore, but I've not done with the Nexus. The normal entry seemed sufficient. The Xperia S has of work from the Swype (ie letter by wiping motion) option. After a very short period of acclimatization is really write much more rapidly. Also seems to me the automatic text proposing to be somehow more intelligent than the Nexus. The text entry I find much more positive.
Battery use
-------------
After several charge cycles, so if the battery is trained slowly, I come with normal use (a few Whatsapp, little online newspaper or games in the train on the way to work) at 1.5 - 2 hours ago without charging. However, I am a level even than infrequent users and little SMser.
Voice quality
--------------
Worlds better than the Nexus. Much clearer and more understandable. More one must not say.
FM Radio
---------
Who needs a nice gimmick. The Nexus has something inexplicably not.
The above points are of course not exhaustive, but at least from the perspective of a former user Nexus those who are gestocken my eye.
:::: :::: Negative
USB connection
-------------
The cover of the USB connector from dust and makes the unit chic. But somehow I have a feeling that this flap will not last as long.
Micro Sim
---------
Honestly, why it must be a Micro Sim. A normal Sim would be there also turned up. As a tip for transfer passengers. Before ye ordered the expensive Micro Sim asks times in various mobile stores. The punches you the SIM for about 3 euros and for Micro Sim.
Update policy
--------------
I have to keep a bit more generally, because some say the Sony anyway has a very good update policy, which regards the Android here. Nevertheless, I attribute this to as negative. The Xperia S currently has Android 4.0.4 which does admittedly very well and smoothly. Honestly, I hardly miss currently Jelly Bean. But why do the producers ever to the latest OS to port on their devices?
After all, Google has yet 4.1 SDK rausgebracht that it should facilitate producers significantly to port the latest version.
Conclusion: Who says Vanilla Android (Android or Pur) the nonplus Ultra is. I have a feeling that the Sony somehow adult, mature and ready than Android Pur. Who is not afraid to change a Nexus, will definitely be very happy with this phone! I would recommend it without restrictions.
Just a note about the criticized touch buttons. Yes, it's true that really go sometimes not until the second pressing. The reason for this is, however, easy to explain. Sony has applied at the factory a screen protector. The is so perfectly applied, that one recognizes this only when very close look. Once you subtract the film go the touch buttons properly. I've made my decision for film and rather protect the display.
For those who now pick up the Xperia S. Congratulations, a good decision !!!
