The good surprise of this disc is that it manages to pass handily the difficult hurdle of the second album. Our Scottish confirm their talent for composing pop-rock with bombs unstoppable rhythmic (a couple bass / drums still outstanding). To be choosy, we can say that their taste for changes of rhythm (binary, disco and keuponne acceleration) in a same way sometimes borders the recipe (as I'm Your Villain)! You Could Have It So Much Better contains plethora of hits, my favorite being You're The Reason I'm Leaving and very 80's chorus. But where the group really made a difference and surprise is on the quieter songs like Walk Away and especially Eleanor Put your Boots On and Fade Together that Ray Davies would not have disowned for its Green Village Kinks (I exaggerate only!) ... at the risk of confusing her fans. A second album more varied, more accomplished and more complex which, paradoxically, may not meet the same success as the first but which has the merit to put Franz Ferdinand in duration! To be continued ... PS: DVD, pay bonuses, is quite dispensable (to be polite)!
