Until last week, I used the Planar to my A77 and the A900, the A77, it corresponds to a KB-equivalent focal length of 130mm ETA.
Since last weekend on the A99. Both formats it produces "outstanding" image quality. Crisp contrast, vibrant colors that leave nothing to be desired.
If one really wants to express criticism then there are two points. These are for me not field relevance, and therefore I also value not from:
1.The autofocus has the old screw drive, and is both considerably slower and louder against the newer SSM
2.For open aperture and wide-open aperture to about 2.2 occurs the so-called "bokeh fringing" in bright areas on
Compared to other reviewers I find the autofocus speed now not so bad. The Planar is also no lens for classic street photography for me.
Here one would have already choose a smaller aperture, so that a moving object / a person does not get out-of-focus, while the lens from focusing.
For portraits and act it is for me but the first choice due to the fantastic image quality. And that was the reason for me acquisition.
And should I interfere with the bokeh Fringe, so I can be removed relatively easily when it develop.
The price is relatively high, the value for money tarnishes slightly, but with the competition, the 85-Primes cost at least as much, and are by no means better.
So I take it also not a star from - when Zeiss is on it, I know that I have to pay four digits, and no one forces me yes.
My conclusion, as usual, in brief:
++ Contrast and sharpness of open aperture at
++ Color rendering of open aperture at
++ Bokeh wonderfully soft, smooth transition
++ Box Relevant zero distortion
++ Workmanship and haptic
++ Autofocus accuracy
+ Focus Lock key
+ Stable Gegenlichtblende
+ Lens case included
o Acceptable Autokusgeschwindigkeit despite screw drive
o bokeh fringing at wide-open apertures in bright areas (easily correctable)
As noted do not bother me, the "o" points so much that I would have to depreciate it.
Sony would be here as part of the redesign of some lenses the Planar an SSM drive, it would be a perfect lens.
Thumbs up and 5 stars - at this point.
