My first was a SSD OCZ Vertex 2 E (120 GB) for my desktop PC. I have had many negative recessions (not just here) read - but also good. So I bought the SSD and was also very satisfied. I was so pleased that I bought the 60 GB version for my HTPC. In the meantime, the 120 in the desktop through a Crucial M4 has been replaced (256 GB) and 120 potters since in my server as a system disk. On 01.03.2013 this SSD is 2 years as and I pray that she does not give up the spirit ...
The HDD ran really smoothly and I had no reason to complain - until today:
Blue Screen after Windows boot process (Desktop is not reached) 0x000000F4 then restart and the hard drive is no longer recognized by the BIOS. Only after the power was cut off completely really.
Of course, something like this happen with any SSD - no manufacturer can claim for itself, there were no failures. Due to the many forum entries, but hereby concerned (regarding OCZ), it seems clear to me that there will be no more OCZ. The HTPC now gets a Crucial M4 (128 GB) and for the server I'll probably also prepare soon a change.
The most important thing in any case -> Create backup. And not just 1x but at least whenever data has been added / have changed which you want to keep! All this is annoying, but it is even more annoying when you have to festellen that data will be lost forever. Fortunately, therefore, is not so with me :-)
