When I got to read the pure title of the new album some time ago was directly clear to me that the Red Trend of Country was to take place to pop in the style of the 80s-90s-pop genre.
An for this change is not a bad thing, the album is well thought out from start to finish, it's fun to listen to and the tracks are memorable. Of course it is difficult to for me to say goodbye for some completely from the country, but behind an artist unfortunately are also repeatedly music studios and consultants who have one or the other influence entirely.
On the other hand I can understand perfectly that an artist does not want to be stuck in a fixed drawer and generally experimenting with stylistic devices. Suppose Nelly Furtado approach as an example that the genre will change with the albums and of itself says that when her new album sounds like a previous it ceases to make music.
But let's get back to the first album and the songs. The album starts very electrically is a little quieter and ends at least conclusive. Eyed individually and critically the means, at least for me in a 10 points Scala:
(1) Welcome To New York (7/10) rather synthetic tracks, little monotonous maybe
(2) Blank Space (9/10) nice rhythm, the text is classic Taylor Swift, would sound good acoustically (see Voice Memo)
(3) Style (8/10) almost standard-pop, not necessarily a bad thing, but I lack the last bit
(4) Out of the Wood (9/10) a bit darker, comes to an incident with ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, I personally like
(5) All You Had to Do What Stay (6/10) bit of rock bottom, perhaps therefore placed in front of the first single ;-)
(6) Shake It Off (10/10) what can I say, you like it or not, I think it's great, little self-critical? Bit ironic and hint towards critics
(7) I Wish You Would (6/10) is okay, find verses but significantly better than the chorus itself, speed too high
(8) Bad Blood (8/10) of the bass use is good, but going strong towards pop competition (K. Perry and Co.)
(9) Wildest Dreams (10/10) one of my favorites, a little quiet and beautiful vocal range (Lana Del Rey-like)
(10) How You Get The Girl (9/10) Guitar comes across well, although pop music, but more reminiscent of earlier albums
(11) This Love (10/10) The quiet song, the highlight, super beautiful ballad
(12) I Know Places (8/10) some getting used to the beginning, with the beginning of the chorus but super
(13) Clean (9/10) beautiful song, a little quieter and would be even better as an acoustic piece with safety
(14) Wonderland (7/10) mainstream titles, remembers back strongly to competition, but beautiful verses and rhythm changes
(15) You Are In Love (9/10) quiet and nice, but the Deluxe Edition is worth now but !?
(16) New Romantics (6/10) of the beginning sounds almost by 90 original pop music, as well a title
Total comprehensive income (8/10)
One could go on the Country-Style afterwards weep now, of course, but this does not change the end or make friends with good pop music and above all enjoy as always beautiful voice of Taylor Swift. I am glad at least something new from her to listen and enjoy, always in the mix with the old albums.
But if I had to give technical advice Mrs Swift Marketing / likely I would you ever album Up! suggest by Shania Twain. This is for comparison to earlier works, more of pop music there BUT was brought as a multi-genre album on the market and the customer had the choice between the red (Pop), green (Country) or blue (International Mix) CD , I have all three ultimately shelved and taken me from every song my favorite version and compiled me my mix.
This is precisely what I would suggest Taylor Swift for the future, the so-called mainstream market with pop songs provide, especially with regard to the single releases and simultaneously record the songs in acoustic country style and serve the old fans something right to enjoy.
But that probably will remain only a pipe dream, a real shame.
Update by frequent listening (02:11:14):
I have the CD now a little more intense consulted from time to time, mostly in the car ;-)
It kristalisiert out the initial idea that there is a very good pop song album, the lyrics are "demanding" than let's say the real pabulum.
All songs process somehow the life of Taylor Swift, it was moved to New York, new purpose in life / -wandel or even the infamous ex-boyfriends. Exactly one notices think I have, it puts the famous heart and soul into the songs and exactly that's what matters to me.
Conclusion:
Finally, you have to say the music is always subjective perceived differently by everyone. If this were not so, we would probably hear all just polka and folk music.
Who on the music of Taylor Swift is interested - and buying the CD considered the that's what the Rezessionenslesern hopefully primarily - should listen to audio samples of the songs and judge for yourself if this new style is suitable for him.
I for one mourn the Country by something, but my fun while listening to "1989". A little less electrical influence on the voice of Taylor, the next time, and I was completely satisfied with the result.
My tips and highlights of the album are therefore BLANK SPACE OUT OF THE WOOD, SHAKE IT OFF, Wildest Dreams, This Love and CLEAN. Those who respect these songs can join me for the purchase of the album is worth quite.
