I use this macro focusing rack for about 2 weeks and I must say I'm thrilled. At first I only ordered a 10cm slide to check the quality. After unpacking, I was almost convinced immediately. The carriage is very well made (for a 16 product) from hard aluminum, very sturdy and anodized. After I have the set screw los solved sat the bar to be a little shaky in the ski carriage, after careful consideration I have 2 tiny allen screws next to the feed and set screw detected (Fig.1). With the two little screw can be like a vise readjust how tight the bar in the carriage sits / runs independently of the locking screw. The adjustment performed and see there, the bar budge :-). The 1/4 "fixing screws is very robust steel screws with clip (Picture 2). Only those screws to retail 3-5 per unit. Thus, the introductory chamfer was finished and try after some practice I still have two ordered 10cm and 24 cm strips and there was all really interesting. You have to the bars like Lego building blocks to introduce so I experimented a bit like me the bar a little Fremdendzwecken can :).
Picture 3 and 4:
I have always had the problem that my camera with the heavy 24-70 lens in landscape mode on the little Schnellwechselplatte always slow down slipped. I had the lock pin of the quick release plate expand since my camera has no hole for it, so I figured drill a corresponding hole on the underside of the carriage. Quick thought made quickly. Built the locking pin back into the quick-release plate, now bleit the camera through the gum and the large contact area on the spot without which I must put on quick-release plate with a screwdriver. Now I use this structure always.
Figure 5:
A small Nodalpunktadapter for well below 100 consisting of 3x10cm sled awesome for fixed focal lengths. Of course you can complete the whole still with panoramic turntables.
Figure 6:
A Big Nodalpunktadaper. Dan I've built up to show that these slides are genuine all-rounders can they screw together arbitrarily. To build the Nodalpunktadapter I got me at the hardware store, an aluminum bracket for wall shelving (2.99) bought, cut, on each side 2 holes chamber adapted to the original holes on the carriage, UNC 1/4 "x20 thread cut at an angle and with the original screws screwed together. I have not changed anything on the slide! build apart again and use as normal.
Figure 7:
A macro structure with 2 flashes. The good thing is you can take down from the tripod and take pictures with the whole structure of the hand.
Conclusion:
The carriages are a real bargain for the price. For all hobbyists among the photographers almost a must. It's fun to experiment with, and easy to implement as tool bars and fast to different constructions Sure.
