On PC with USB 2.0, the drive was the way without any problems.
The biggest negative point is to be upended disk. Of course you can also place the hard drive, which is also highly recommended as they upended just way too easy to tip over - a little touch or unhappy cable wobbling enough already. Edgewise is in operation is always the risk of drive damage from tipping over during operation. I find it very unfavorably their external hard drives strengthened by all manufacturers as marketing upright versions, and help out also by the design, in this case by missing lateral rubber studs for normal (and safer) operation. Because damage by shock is not covered by the warranty and the manufacturer can simply and clearly identify this type of harm. A rogue who thinks here of artificial increase in sales.
Also negative I noticed the volume. Under the table or somewhere in the corner, the plate may be quiet, but directly on the table next to a whisper-quiet (virtually no audible) iMac is with considerable noise imperceptible. As a backup disk besides the computer therefore useless for me because it clearly drowned out the iMac! At least the noise is uniform and we hear no hits. Nonetheless, there are definitely quieter drives you yourself directly in front of one on the table does not listen (WD Green with A in model name, for example WDxxEARX with only one magnetic disk). The gibts halt apologize only to 2TB.
The mentioned elsewhere hardware encryption is also counterproductive. Is namely the housing or the USB controller Hopps can forget his data, even if the board would continue to function only spend garbage in another USB enclosure. Unfortunately there is no option to disable the encryption - this is moronic and can certainly be regarded as deception! At least if you're like me assumes that disks are generally exchangeable in USB enclosures or should be.
Last nor I noticed the ugly stains on the casing. Simply wipe Pustekuchen like the iPad! The Fetttapser persist and can be seen clearly in the appropriate light. Since you have so at least once touched a plate with his hands the housing ugly marks that one is again immediately with cleaners going. Piano finish = Dirt Fail.
Ultimately, then, you go with USB 3.0 housing + internal SATA drive by own choice (soft and warm or quick and hot) or a cheaper 3TB USB Drive (eg from Intenso) significantly better.
