What a start! I have been recently looking for exceptional alien stories, I like the idea because it is still fresh and new and thereby bringing new energy to the whole YA scene. With Obsidian I hit the jackpot, the story reads off as nothing. Mysterious, exciting and with the right touch of romance, it is exactly my case.
Katy as protagonist gets already times a huge plus for her book blog. Yes, I'm biased. Apart from that, it acts quite sympathetic, she is not averse to the sarcasm and is quite loyal to Dee. Most come so the friendships at a love story too short but in this case, has held the balance. Dee was me immediately sympathetic, she is one of those girlfriends who always seem jittery and you have liked to have easy. However, the remaining supporting characters were unfortunately flat, barely expanded and therefore not worth mentioning really.
Daemon is the quintessential bad boy. Well, at least at the beginning, then, of course, comes the inner sweet, loving core. But until this Daemon gets to know it takes time and that's what I liked. Nothing was rushed, not gefasselt after fifty pages of true love, and here one of kitsch is not hewn around the ears. Everything went very slowly on his way, Katy and Daemon have only once met and spent time with each other, so that everything came over authentic. And among all the sarcastic dialogues and witty remarks you could feel the connection between the two and the author has built in the right places, a little romance, right and exact match. That's how it should be! Ding Ding Ding - because sprayed sparks and smoking the sides. ;)
The writing style is loose easily and it reads very fluently. I am a beginner English and could without any problems follow the story and had only occasionally look up a few words, if they did not result in the context anyway. By the way, the German edition will be published in mid-April under the title Obsidian Dark Shadows. (Carlsen Verlag)
While the act itself was now not full draft but instead the book is not even thought of. I think I'm a fan of aliens. Oh, since I'm the Doctor Who anyway.
The idea is great, the implementation I found except for a few little things done and it brings new life into the ranks of angels, demons, shapeshifters and how they all still hot. It is pure entertainment and produces addictive without end. I'm glad to have all future volumes already in my shelf. From me there is therefore 4.5 / 5 Rawrs and thus a very clear reading recommendation.
I ask not to publish my reviews elsewhere without my consent.
