Since I had pre-ordered the TV, I have already received it the day of publication in Germany of Amazon. Here are my first impressions after the first week. Motivation: After 3.5 years of operation was the 42 inch plasma (also Panasonic) a bit too small, something new, larger and at the same time Future-proof was needed. The price differences between FullHD and 4K are so far shrunk that a 4K TV for option. 55 inches seemed to offer the best price-performance ratio. Why this television? The design appealed to me instantly - even in comparison to the options of Samsung and LG; Also good "inner values" (4K, 1200Hz, HDMI 2.0, etc.) Packing: no objection - slimmer, although large box without "bells and whistles" Construction: Easy; with 8 screws, the stand is secure. Setting: Easy; read via DVB-T, the KabelBW - Finished. Blurayplayer via HDMI. Sound: Due to the low depth we must not expect miracles here. Ok for television - films but rather in DTS on the 5.1 receiver. Picture: In the LCD Technolgy has caught up in last year some against plasma. Contrast and black levels are almost equal - with the black level in the best is when you exactly in the middle sitting in front of the screen. Have the brightness turned down even a little - then it fits. Otherwise, no artifacts, ghosting etc. recognized previously. 4K: Presumed generic 4K material I can only comment on "upscaling" of Bluray material at the moment. Looks great! Extreme sharp and detailed. 3D: Has no priority for me. I have therefore deliberately decided on a TV without 3D glasses. Why should I pay for something that I do not use? The money is better invested in a good quality image. Therefore no star deduction for non-existent 3D glasses. Wireless, Internet and other Apps: available; but not my main focus; no better or worse than others in this area.
CONCLUSION: Even without large 4K material selection of the TV for me, "the better Full HD TV" is currently! Top image and appealing design.
Update 11/21/2014 Now I have tried 3D yet. It requires an active 3D glasses. Source: Avatar - 3D reference movie! Tested Option 1: Panasonic TY-ER3D4ME (approx 60 euros each) - has a reasonable on / off switch and can be recharged via USB Micro. In addition, the TV reports a successful coupling. Tested Option 2: Samsung SSG-P51002 / XC (! About 40 euros for 2 pieces) - runs on battery (button cell), non-rechargeable. No feedback when coupling. The 3D image is fantastic with two glasses! The glasses from Panasonic scores with a rechargeable battery, Samsung with the price. When wearing glasses, I find I Samsung even more convenient. Both are highly recommended. Thus ultimate a matter of preference.
