The following background information:
I have only experience with navigating via PDA with maps of 18hundert spring. (Navigon)
Furthermore, I am familiar only with the navigation via smartphone, which were only given me the information of my co-driver. (These were always super but and you could always detect jams)
I have a Navi wanted, which is to be a gift and therefore trouble-free, maintenance-free, simple ... so that the recipient has to worry and effort.
This was more difficult than expected, as I described how little experience I have Navis, but there is a mega-selection of devices.
Accordingly, I have read through all the reviews and test reports to me to take a picture of all devices (of course, all related product).
Decided I signed up for the Becker Professional 50 LMU.
Why?
Compares all but reviews of all Navis and makes you picture it ...
Joking aside ...
The models that were available were: Becker 50 per LMU, some Navigon to prof 92, various Garmin, TomTom and some Falk 550. All in the price range from 150 - 320th
The desired requirements (needs) were:
- As much as possible eurocards
- Easy handling
- Free map updates
- If possible including Fußgängernavi
- TMC
Why Becker Pro 50 LMU?
- Best price / performance ratio
- Free map updates
- Europe wide coverage (important were the Scandinavian countries, which are never in the 20 packages at)
- Solid construction
- Many important functions, not all these bells and whistles like MP3 players and TV antenna etc.
- Navigates quickly, without any breakneck maneuvers on the highway, suggests good alternative routes, provides timely information for bending, good view of the track arrangement, good junction view, much POI with at (gas stations, restaurants, shops, hospitals (even individual physicians), police stations ), good adjustable speed warning, very pleasant read display, day and night, very good active holder, and really easy menu navigation.
Now some will say great, others have, and now?
Maybe, but I have when choosing specifically supported me on the criticisms and those closely examined.
1. you often hear: Content Manager shit, is not running, Windows locks up ... all crap
-> I have stuck to the reviews and one must observe the following sequence:
1. Unpack the unit, connect the car to enter any destination, drive off (at least 10km !!!!!), delighted the
it works out
2. grant the release in Antivir on the computer in the security setting that Autobin files
allowed to run (or he does not start automatically, the installation)
3. Only then connect your device to your computer and install the Content Manager FROM NAVI OFF,
Software is on the Navi, you are not installing the software before download!
4. Immediately proposes widget software update, yes, and a backup as a backup
perform, YES ABSOLUTELY !!! -> But Note: This will take approximately 1 hour as they fuse for 2.7 GB !!! created
shall
Conclusion: in this order, it works great! (Windows 7)
2. map updates do not work
-> If step 1 does have to register and there are the free map updates available
Note: Download size 2.7 GB !!! (At 16000er DSL approximately 1 hour)
3. Active Holder does not hold
-> Keeps top, another advantage: cable is flexible and TMC cable integrated with Garmin are both separated
and the power cord as mobile as a power line
4. Route Browsing faster in others
-> Is fixed, press Start time between announcement and the first about 5 seconds
5. It is not the fastest way, but a detour displayed
-> I can in my tests, which were not very extensive, however, not confirmed
6. maps out of date
-> No experience
7. voice input only works to 30%
-> I'd say about 50%, little tip: it worked best when one announces the address with a comma, so
eg "Berlin Friedrichstrasse point 3", then it detects the address very well. But you really have
dialect freely and speak clearly
8. No connection to mobile phone
- Not> tried it yet
9. Service absolutely shit, nobody reached, no information, incompetent, do not respond
-> I have not needed who adheres to the order, should also do without. But I also
Reviews read because it was spoken by a great service, friendly and competent professionals ...
Still additionally be mentioned:
Garmin many have complained about the annoying speed Warner, which this after 1km / h exceeded begins to annoy, one reason why I have taken Becker ... you can very nice for inside / outside cities and adjust.
These are all short-term experience, should something arise in the course of time, I will inform you.
For all merchants In conclusion mentioned: at an average map update price of 50 or 99 (depending on the manufacturer) is given with the purchase of a 50 per Beckers including free map updates a payback period of 2 or 1 year.. Who wants to spend a little less can take the next-deeper version of Becker, but has only a passive holder (cable must be always connected to Navi) this and no Bluetooth for handsfree and not lifelong, Free TMCPremium.
I hope now are all eliminated clarities ...
Have Fun.
