I was then faced with the abundance of product choice as can be seen by visiting this site.
Ideally one would think that the best choice would be to move towards a maximum battery capacity and weight and mini price. For example there for twenty euros, a solar panel battery 30000mAh and weighing approximately 200g. But the reviews here made me doubt the reliability of such a battery.
In the absence of solar panel weight is most important. Thus a 30000mAh battery weighs about 500g. So I pulled over this 12000mAh capacity battery and weighing just over 250g. The capacity is more than sufficient for my needs and it does not weigh too the backpack for hiking. But Hoo Too battery is not the only one with these characteristics. So, rightly or wrongly, I relied on the reviews posted on this site.
Having received this there are just under two weeks, I have, of course, not enough experience to judge its reliability. However I can, already, make the following remarks:
1. The battery is supplied with a lightweight case Airtex which may contain, besides the battery, the 2 cables and connectors.
2. Accessories are:
2 USB cables / micro USB lengths 30 and 60cm. These cables are flat, which minimizes the risk of nodes.
A USB / mini USB connector and a micro USB connector micro / Samsung Galaxy.
3. The battery has a micro USB port for charging up to 2 A. The charger is not provided, but can be used, for example, charging a smartphone or a computer USB port.
Elee also has 2 USB outputs for simultaneous charging of two devices. One of these outputs, indicated by 1 flash pictogram, allows charging at 1A, and the other, identified by two lightning can charge up to 2.4A.
4. It can simultaneously charge the battery Too Hoo itself and 2 devices connected to it.
5. I have observed that if you plug two devices on the battery, charging stops before the batteries of these 2 devices connected are complete. But the charge of two connected devices can be continued by pressing the power button battery Hoo Too.
By cons when Hoo Too battery itself is responsible, it loads completely, and without interruption, connected devices. Similarly, if we do support only one device, the battery being Hoo Too or not being charged, the battery makes full charge and without interruption of the connected device.
I do not think that this operation is an embarrassing default, but it's better to know.
6. "flashlight" integrated into this battery does not convince me, because if the battery is mostly used for this function, it is rather heavy and bulky. Furthermore, in general, the smartphone better fulfills this function.
Incidentally I was intrigued by the capacity in mAh indications and Wh that seem contradictory. Indeed, for a voltage of 5V 12000mAh should match 60Wh and not 44.4. So I contact HooToo to clarify this point. The answer is as follows:
"3.7V is the actual battery voltage, 5V is amplified, not the battery voltage. So you have 44.4Wh (3.7 * 12000)."
Finally, the price of this device seems reasonable compared to those of the same capacity competition. Besides when I ordered this product's price was 35 euros and the next day's price fell by 10 euros. So I sent a claim to the seller (Sunvalley) which has demonstrated fair play by paying me 10 euros that I overpaid because of my order the day before the price drop.
