Many will have to decide and ask: So what is the better lens for me? The Canon 100 2.8 L IS USM or the Canon 135 2.0 L USM?
That's not so easy to answer, because it depends on the purpose of the operation. If you want to mainly shoot portraits and therefore mostly working outside the 135 2.0 L, the choice of things. If you want to have a universal lens and also successful portraits, especially indoors or on Crop make, then the 100 2.8L IS USM is a recommendation.
Here are my comparisons (across systems Crop / KB)
Advantages Canon 100 2.8 L IS USM
- Image Stabilizer (1 / 20th of still loose durable!)
- Good workmanship
- Relatively easy
Usable focal length something universal for indoors and outdoors -
- Good exemption possibilities in Portraits
- Cheaper than the 135 2.0 L USM
Disadvantages
- Slower than the 135 2.0
- A diaphragm lichtschwächer
Advantages Canon 135 2.0 L USM
- Extreme exemption possible + 1 iris brighter
- Faster than the 100 2.8 L IS USM
- Sharpness still a touch better contrast behavior as well
Disadvantages
- More expensive than the 100 2.8 L IS USM
- Severe
- No IS
- Sometimes too long (inside)
I must say that I use both lenses both on Crop and at KB and the two complement each other very well.
The 135 2.0 is simply a stunner and especially for wedding and portrait photographers with one of the most interesting lenses in the portfolio in addition to the 85 1.2.
If you want, however, from time to time make a portrait, that's 100 2.8L IS USM is the better choice, because the 135 is simply a specific lens and the
100 something allround-compatible.
