Actually, I'm not a fan of growls, but this band has it done to me. With the acquisition of Heritage CD I was curious and I have heard purely in the sound cosmos of Opeth. And what can I say? ... This band is just awesome. Varied Prog between metallic hardness and fragile beautiful acoustic passages and also beautiful vocals. Especially well done this is to Ghost Reveries. The only (small) weakness is the slightly subcooled, smooth production compared to the warm organic sound of Heritage. But that's a matter of taste. The sound of this album is amazingly nearer to the time equal to the released and Porcupine Tree album "Deadwing" - this despite mastermind Steven Wilson of Ghost Reveries was not involved. The long-standing friendship Akerfeldt us Wilson has therefore both bands "fertilized" musically. In the songs I would like to not again precisely at this point, as this was already done on several occasions by others. For me this album is absolutely great in terms of variety and atmosphere. The growls are, compared to other bands of this genre, musical top. There is no "brainless" Geknüpple, even if the baby goes to the harder thing. The compositions are almost always tip and rank in the field of prog metal at the highest level. For "non-death metal fans" I can absolutely recommend this disc.
