The last books I've only read back to me "tune". I had so delighted me in advance to the fifth book, and as soon as it was possible to pre-order it. Now I'm through with the book and must say I am disappointed. The story of Daenerys has very dragged me from the beginning, I had hoped for from the title that it is now finally tidy comes to the dragons are slowly bigger and more powerful. None. The dragons are the whole book about when then only at the edge before, only towards the end they are finally interesting and important, but then in a way that certainly not every fan will love. Also Daenerys' story is certainly not a dance, but if ever a Struggle.
The whole plot is built up at the beginning very tough when you are arrived then about half of the book is slow's better. Toward the end, there is again the usual cliffhanger, some characters who appeared very important to start suddenly find no mention of what has disappointed me, with other characters previously cherished fail me emotions.
Otherwise, a lot came to the spot and told much, but does happen hardly anything. The external action is poor, the inner action my opinion unfortunately. The beloved characters like Daenerys, Jon or Tyrion experiencing serious crises in this volume, but nowhere we read of doubt, fear, longing, despair, or any other human emotion. The characters seem flat as ever.
Martins narrative style has changed a lot since the first book. Some like he tosses in his stories since new love the details, I do not like them. Often I have to skip me while reading this caught whole paragraphs when I realized that there is now once again went to the appearance of some side character, or to the food which was described to the last detail, or about whether a 15 knights who do not Give credit even now this morning freshly shaved or not. I liked the old crisp narrative style rather, and could with the many details in the fifth volume not make friends, and why not because their benefits has never opened up to me. Atmosphere well and good, but the details were to be too many and too cluttered to the story act round. On the contrary, you have harm than good in my opinion more. The language had previously fluid and crisp, the fifth book comes as the fourth highly engineered therefore. Most disturbs me the fact that many chapters only run on a single Cliffhanger, the finally come in the last five lines of the last page of the chapter. Everything described above seem to serve partly for the sole purpose of diverting this particular moment or to give rise to something like everyday boredom so the last lines shocking really. Thus, the narrative is at once frightening predictable.
That the Martin but not really necessary! To know I got him as a writer of plays with his readers, powerful prominent characters conjures, not shy away from surprises, and be they ever so terribly. Meanwhile, I feel his narrative as overloaded and at the same time too predictable to me to inspire long-term. The "Twists and Turns" of earlier books have knocked me right here, I often have the impression that a "Twist" only to the Twist's will was installed, and to make the book a little longer. One has the feeling that Martin has himself lost and his style in the past five years.
