On the supposed height of her career arrived, wondered the faithful fan base if a live album by Dead Can Dance can work. Finally, we hear spellbound and reverent and dare in the concerts no interference by spontaneous applause or cheering - Dead Can Dance was worshiped almost spiritual.
And then there came yet: The acclaimed tour in 1993 was published under the title "Toward the Within" CD. Even 20 years later I say, more than a windfall for the fan base, namely for all lovers Excelent music that fits into any category and is supported by two great artists and their backing band.
Two things are immediately obvious when listening. First there is the acoustic set list, the date of publication only four known titles had (out of 15). This was (and still is) unusual for a live album. Secondly, the live atmosphere is nevertheless captured very well done exceptionally (see above) - the titles are completely undisturbed by the public (weird for a live performance; one finds otherwise only in classical concerts) played. But the applause is even more frenetic between the pieces.
The music can only be described as great, almost singular. Such a mix of oriental-inspired pieces with lots of exotic percussion (Rakim, Oman, Desert Song), song writing for guitar (I can see now, American Dreaming, Do Not Fade Away), Lisa Gerrard singing art (Persian Love Song, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Sanvean) and other hits for eternity (Yulunga, Cantara) complemented by more experimental pieces and solo interpretations has no longer been on an album until today.
The recording can be confidently described as audiophile scale. Resolution, airiness and selectivity looking like him. Who has the power (and the corresponding equipment), you should definitely resort to the Japanese hybrid SACD - here the media shows once again how much sound improvement can still be taken out of an already excellent record.
All in all: A Concert for eternity in perfect recording technology - more than 6 5 Stars!
