Apart from the bigger brother, the Dreambox 8000, this box is the measure of all things when it comes to high definition television and multimedia. Visually the 7020 HD looks even more elegant because it has the much more beautiful, white OLED display, while the 8000 has a yellow OLED display only.
When unpacking it is clear that you hold here no 0815 Baumarkt-receiver in the hands, but an absolute lifestyle product for technology purists.
My 7020HD was delivered in the standard configuration, ie without hard disk, with a DVB-S2 tuner and a DVB-C / DVB-T Mixtuner. The tuner can be exchanged - it go in a maximum of 2 pieces. A 2 terabyte SATA disk I have now retrofitted and use it for recording.
Aside from the box itself, together with the necessary wiring and remote control, even get a WLAN USB Stick and a user manual in book form - and not a bad translate scrap of paper from the Far East.
You also get a VIP-access card for our own Internet forum of the manufacturer where you can get free advice from other users or employees of the company.
The real fun starts however only when you bring the box up and running and configured according to their own wishes and ideas.
It should be explicitly stated: Buy this box
- If you just want a bit of television, no matter how.
- If you do not feel like something tinkering or configurations.
- If you refuse all Linux.
- If you do not attach importance on realizing their own wishes and ideas technically.
Although the Dreambox 7020 HD with the preconfigured Enigma2 Linux is already a first-class receiver, the all-rounder from Lunen plays its full strengths only when you will download additional plugins or alternative image from the Internet and installed on its box.
They have a home server, external hard drives, network shares with movies, music and records? The Dreambox can pretty mount everything, whether locally or via network. She plays everything from, ranging from high-definition MKV to simple MP3 I have been caught not a file format that problems would have made.
The Dreambox works perfectly with AV receivers and 5.1 sound systems.
You can configure menus, overlays and fonts according to their own desires.
You can access from your computer via the network on the box and watch TV directly on your PC .. or switch box .. or a screenshot of the current program to make ... or their favorites list on the remote control to change .... or or or!
Also interesting are the two internal card reader plus two CI slots of the Dreambox!
Many smart cards can be read and used easily by the Dreambox when setting properly its operating system in advance. (Please always note the Terms and Conditions of those sites!)
All in all a wonderful toy for adults, which his money's worth!
