But the adventure turns into a rout and leave our man alone and crestfallen. He does not understand the criticism of his relatives, who deplore his scientific mind, Cartesian, without imagination, without craziness. And that was what was so seduced his wife at their first meeting!
You go through a whole range of emotions while reading this novel, which opens in joy and gladness, before falling into the sordid, touching, poignant. The image of the couple and the family takes a shot in the wing and leaves a bitter taste, but not to make reading melancholic too demoralizing (as opposed to one day).
Excellent interpretation by Patrick Donnay for Audiolib - it's fresh, funny, subtle and rich in nuances, for a story that is both sensitive, pathetic and moving. I had a great time!
