------------------------------------------
I bought a week ago the "Transcend Extreme Speed SDHC Class 10 16GB Memory Card" for my Canon PowerShot SX220 HS. At first I was skeptical because of the quite frequent negative reviews. But having given me an overview of the SDHC (SD High Capacity) world, me the good price and the information gathered will then have yet enticed to buy this brand.
Make sure you know what you need. It may not always be in it what it says on the card, but usually you can find the corresponding test results on the net. If the test results agree with what you need, you can always find exactly what you are looking for / need and that usually at a good price.
Now I could not help myself and have tested the card itself again. In addition I have once asked myself the question: What does Class 10 (the speed class) really?
Define the speed classes, how high the minimum write speed (Mbit / s or MB / s). Here is a list:
* Class 2: 16 Mbit / s (2 MB / s)
* Class 4: 32 Mbit / s (4 MB / s)
* Class 6: 48 Mbit / s (6 MB / s)
* Class 10: 80 Mbit / s (10 MB / s) (see Wikipedia.)
With this information I have searched for a program to check the speed. A good and well-known tool for this is "h2testw" (in version 1.4). After two passes, there were identical results:
------------------------------------------
1. Map:
* No error
* Write rate: 14,0MB / s
* Read rate: 17,9MB / s
------------------------------------------
2. Map:
* No error
* Write rate: 13,9MB / s
* Read rate: 17,8MB / s
------------------------------------------
Accordingly, this card a Class 10 more than justice.
Here is a summary of my impressions on the map after a week with almost 200 images (with 9-12Megapixeln) and 7 Full HD videos in various lengths:
+ Price / Performance
+ Speed
+ Physical write protection (lock lever)
+ The frustration-free packaging is not to be despised :-)
- No negative anomalies
Conclusion: The card is good, the class is 10 to find more than justice and there are no defects.
