Dishonored (Video Game)

Customer Review

Dishonored is a good stealth game / adventure.

Graphically, it is frankly not very nice, the graphics engine is not at all flattering to the eye ... BUT I must admit that the style is sublime. Viktor Antonov, the creator of the design of Half Life 2 universe completed the design of the game with Sebastien Milton, and it's really beautiful and successful, even if the graphics do not pay homage to this great achievement.

One is dazzled by the colors and architecture of the city, with various places and really beautiful. The city is plagued by pestilence, overrun by rats, dozens, hundreds of thousands of deaths. This is the backdrop of the imaginary city of Dunwall venue of the game. It looks like an English town XIX th century with its dark cobbled streets, the pub, etc. But the universe is totally fictitious and fantastic because magic exists there and the city runs on whale oil and not electricity ...

The scenario that unfolds in this backstory is really very interesting and this time frankly excellent and addictive. In short: a princess was murdered before your eyes, you are accused of murder and imprisoned, this is a plot, you must avenge you because you have been "disgraced" (hence the title is not it !). From there share the whole story, and it will be twists.

The lifespan is unfortunately quite short: ten / twelve hours just enough to finish the game, side missions included. There has indeed 9 missions in total.

But the game has a good replay value since there are several possible endings and where you can also choose to be "good" (not to kill anyone in the whole game and perform all duties in a "non-lethal" ) or choose to be "bad" and kill all your enemies. So the outcome will be different.

That's the whole point of the game: it is a stealth game ... and you have the choice of your approach: lethal, nonlethal, action, infiltration ... There are several way to accomplish each missions, several paths possible. Each mission is "open" (although cut zone intersected by a loading) and you can go through different path on your own !! There in that great freedom, and this is really the highlight of the game! The level design is very well done in this direction.

You can choose to use the more traditional weapons: crossbow (with lethal tiles or not you choose), sword or gun, mines, sharp spirals (right hand of the character). Or magic (left hand): you have several powers you unlock throughout the game by collecting "runes" in the game Thus, there teleportation (called blink), very useful to reach places. that allow to borrow alternate paths, the possession of human or animals (the latter is also useful to take alternative paths inaccessible to a human), the magic breath that kills enemies, etc. etc.

He has a whole picture of improvement "traditional" weapons and magical powers, as well as your skills (hopping, running speed, etc) which is very well done and that brings a challenge in improving the game skills, which grows to collect as many runes in levels, and therefore to explore to the maximum, especially as the money collected is used to buy equipment.

In sum, there Bethesda offers us a good stealth game, I initially struggled to cling to the proposed universe, and I ended up going once in for all, ignoring a graphics bit overwhelmed but adoring sublime aesthetic accomplishment! The level design is really good, and very addictive scenario. The only flaw is the graphics after the lifetime of the game that still remains very short in the end, even if the replay has an undeniable interest and playing non-lethal infiltration, can then exceed 15 hours due side "die and retry" in order to perfect its infiltration and avoid detection.

I highly recommend this game to undercover lovers and a little universe "steampunk". A good game :)
