1. After unpacking the product I was impressed with the presentation in a pretty box, by providing a carrying bag with 2 compartments, and the solid feel he gives at first glance aeil, with its metal hoop and sheathed cables in a braid. Furthermore the quilting hoop and headphones is particularly serious.
2. The headphone / microphone plugs directly by its coaxial plug on the corresponding input / output (this is an outlet for listening and an input for the microphone) of a Smartphone, a tablet, or a "Xbox".
For computer headphone output does not match the plug of the headphones / mic as this computer's output is intended only to listen and therefore can not handle the microphone.
Therefore, a USB adapter is supplied with an input for receiving the coaxial plug of the headphones and a male USB plug to be plugged into the computer. This adapter allows you to separately control the volume of the headphones and the volume of the removable microphone.
Finally, regarding the equipment of this "HyperX", it is expected 2 replacement pads for headphones, and, rarely, an adapter for listening to an airplane programs.
A Quick Start Guide is provided but not complete instructions that can be downloaded from the Kingston site. But I think the quick start guide is sufficient.
3. To test this headset / mic I first used to telephone conversations with both my Smartphone with my computer, via Skype. My only caution due to the high efficiency of upholstery headphones can not hear his own voice as muffled way; so it is better not to completely cover the ears through the headphones.
4. Next I tested the sound reproduction quality of the headphones listening to some CD extracts using my computer drive. The result is up to the advertised bandwidth (15 Hz to 25,000 Hz): the most serious and high tones are reproduced well, what I have seen listening to a disc organ and flute and cello disk.
Additionally the stereo effect is well marked.
I have not been able to test the 7.1 home theater effect because the computer I use at the moment can not play Blu-ray discs. I can do this test in late February.
As telephone conversations I am impressed with the upholstery of the headphones: it's really cut off from the outside world, which is excellent for listening to music, but is not necessarily good for the desocializing effect this may cause.
5. I attribute 5 stars ("it's perfect") this headset / earphone for, for my use, I have no criticism to make against this and I think its reasonable price given its quality. But I may be revising my "note" after handing the headphones to the "gamer" (why not say player?) Which it is intended.
February 28, 2015:
My positive opinion was confirmed by the player to which this helmet was intended. In particular his view is that the voices are particularly clear and understandable, and, more generally, the sounds are well defined. Regarding the characteristic effect "surround" 7.1 although he has no game to exploit this function he consulted Dolby site that provides a test for this purpose on a suitable audio equipment and found the effect is well marked with this headset.
So I see no reason to change the "note" that I had previously assigned.
