Review 09.02.2014 changed since been used for 2 years at OM-D E-M5
Lens 2.8 - 3.5 / 14 - 54II - it was missing the counterpart as mFt lens.
The new mFt 12-40 is around 1cm in diameter and 2cm in length, measured with adapter MMF3 at 14-54, smaller and lighter 100gr.
The imaging performance of 14-54 is slightly better, except for the larger focal range, which was decisive for me to continue to keep the 14-54.
Had this lens since 2009. At an Olympus E3, since 2012 at the E-M5
This lens has the ideal zoom range for me.
Plus points
+ Test was carried out simultaneously with the previous model - better at E3 a Tik - Test 2009
+ Super processing and relatively easy with 440gr. compared to the other manufacturers and comparable lenses
+ Aperture 2.8 - 3.5 is very considerable in size and the weight of the lens
+ On the E-M5, this lens is just feasible, weight and size is the maximum for a good ausballancierte E-M5 inclusive handle
+ No detectable vignetting in the edge region, at least not in "normal view" to A4
+ 14-54 extremely sharp images up to the edge area, images appear sharper compared to the Zuiko 12-60 which does not go to the E-M5, the AF falls asleep here.
+ From the wide-angle (28mm small picture) to short telephoto (108mm small picture) - Lens for most situations with very good intensity
+ Portrait Photography with excellent sharpness - blur distribution - beautiful bokeh at 2.8 than its predecessor
+ Landscape photos in a prime color fidelity and extremely good detail reproduction at the Olympus OM-D E-M5
+ Animal Photography very good (especially in tropical houses and aquariums thanks to the high light intensity)
+ Indoor (weddings, fairs ...) digital tested with Flash Metz 44AF-1 - just great, no vignetting from 14mm to 54mm
+ Price - performance - weight wrong with this lens
+ All functions Adapter MMF-3 available plus completely sealed at the E-M5
+ Inclusive lens hood, lens pouch and two covers supplied, as opposed to the "naked" delivered mFt lenses
+ Inner focusing for the use of filters, the front lens does not rotate with
+ Works with contrast AF and phase of the E-M5, the predecessor only with phases AF
+ Zoom extends only minimally, so that it is not disruptive effect on the E-M5 and the entire camera + lens is not too large

# You clearly notice the contrast AF, the back and front of the focus, but is still sufficiently fast
# Minimal slower than the MFT lenses
# For action photography, I would use this lens only partially, for the focal length is not built
# Flash with the E-M5 and the small enclosed system flash is not an ideal combination, shadow of 14-18mm
Conclusion:
* Super lens for all situations thanks to f 2.8 - 3.5
* Imaging performance class for "small price" compared to colleagues on the market
* Absolute buy recommendation
* Compared with the Zuiko 2.8 / 12-40 marginally better
* Compared with the 12-35 Panasonic much better because Panasonic deducts the objective errors in the camera and the lens makes Olympus cameras not a good figure
* My recommendation for adapted FT lenses on the E-M5: Zuiko 14-54II and adapter MMF3 because of sealing against dust and moisture
