I'm not entirely agree with Emmanuel P. that says "With few exceptions, all black women are brave and smart, silly white women and harpies." In contrast, when you scratch the surface, we realize all the ambivalence it there in the good relations between Black and White families, a mix of love and contempt, felt on both else, a very special feeling. The afterword by Kathryn Stockett's about it quite revealing, incidentally (and worth it not to be read from the book, but somewhere during).
In short, a great story, well-crafted characters and endearing (or hateful). Particularly well written in English as the 3 main characters have writing styles of their own, it's very nice. To read, and now I'm going to chain on "To Kill a Mockingbird" :)
