The familiar V for Vendetta or Watchmen already know that Alan Moore is probably the best screenwriter in the world of comics. The (large) volume '' From hell '' (which I have read in English) is perhaps his best album (until the next). The thesis (Jack the Ripper is actually an organized conspiracy in high places) is definitely wrong but whatever. You have to dive without reserve in this novel (beautifully designed by the way) to fully appreciate the darkness, violence and sardonic humor. At the same time, it is a social and historical epic, happy prophetic. The historical context is brilliantly evoked. The ambition of the work in no way impairs the plot: Moore keeps it fully all its traditional qualities. The thriller is exciting, remarkably led, and suffocating atmosphere. I have no hackneyed 5 stars: this book fully deserves. Everything Tardi does not know how long with Nestor Burma, Alan Moore did with Saucy Jack. Drop the promotion of honor "from hell '' this is really the first division.
