What a joy to finally plunge into the world of The House Of The Night! Each time, I take great pleasure in finding all the characters, their stories strewn with obstacles, and the climate so unique to this saga. Unlike many people, I have always enjoyed this series and this volume further confirms this trend. Even if there is one or two unpleasant elements, I found this eighth installment nice to read. A friendly and entertaining read that sounds like an air bubble! As I risk of repeating myself, I intend to write a shorter notice than usual, because, obviously, my feelings about all aspects of the novel has not changed at all compared to other volumes. As said before, traveling with Zoey, Lucie, Stark, Aphrodite, Damien, Darius, giants or Eric was truly a great experience. Each time I told you the same thing, but it's so true! There is something in these characters that makes you can not help but feel soothed and smile when the following new. I think in fact, I am extremely attached to them and their experiences during the past three years. It's like I found old friends, really. I laughed, I shivered, I was afraid, and I had stomach knotted for them in this new album. Especially because the story is told us from different perspectives, allowing us to link us even more to each of them. And I find it just amazing from the authors to make their heroes increasingly moving and adorable even after eight volumes! Chapeau! Only small problem for them: like many people, I have found some of their reactions very immature and very silly. We can do anything, they are like that, but I had not really noticed until then (be it because of my 18 years that link!). I must admit that there are some passages where heroes are showing very little discernment and logic. Their emotions seemed to me a bit overplayed, or so totally incoherent face the situation they were experiencing them. It was quite strange, actually. As if the feelings were there, but not enough explored. I can not transcribe well my feelings exactly. There was a shift here, actually. And this shift was a bit disturbed. Level twists, rapid progress in this volume. There is always something that disrupts the lives of our friends vampires. I loved how the twists come every time we think can finally breathe. There are so many sub-plots and possible reversals that takes full head, and this continuously. Light and darkness are ever in conflict, and every betrayal, every secret and every choice take a decisive extent. This volume is bursting with lies, camp changes and low blows that make our explosive and exciting reading! I think I am much attached to me in this world for this reason: there is always something or someone to upset history and we breathtaking. Conversely, I have found a flaw on the twists: Freed has, for me, a little too descriptive passages in which one character tells another what happened to him (and us already know, inevitably). So, we repaid surprises countless times, slowing the pace a bit. Another downside: we advance in history, certainly, but not in the overall plot of the saga. You see what I mean? I felt that recently with Night School, which is exactly the same situation here. It happens a lot in this volume, but the general thread of the plot does not advance more than that, which is quite unfortunate. Fortunately for us, the end overtakes all that, giving us some very surprising twists. There the dead, new avenues open, and billions of questions I'm eager to find the answers. Volume 9 promises to be eventful and difficult to Zoey and her friends, and I am terribly anxious to see how they will confront. Haaaaaaaaa, I'm so addicted that I already think about later !!! It's maddening! In short, Freed is a very good result, tinged with magic and really addictive twists. We left with happy impossible to contain all our beloved hero, and this is ultra refreshing. Although this eighth volume has some flaws, I think it is a fact quite normal. After eight novels, it is increasingly difficult to completely exhausser readers' expectations. Then I really love this world I forgive almost anything to authors, anyway. I now await the result of a halt! A new opus friendly and that is good, that I recommend to all fans of the saga The House Of The Night!
