With 8 inch size, the scope, in my view, a reasonable level to represent pictures appealing. Fortunately, Rollei is the framework on matt-black plastic, which is not as sensitive for fingerprints as high gloss surfaces. The processing of the frame is the price range reasonable and the overall impression of the frame looks quite high.
This also matte display is bright enough to present the pictures even on sunny days appropriately. The resolution of 800 x 600 pixels is enough for some viewing distance to look sharp and vivid. The viewing angle is sideways and upwards very good. Colors fade and are hardly as far as possible unaltered even when not viewed from the front. Only when viewing the display from below colors are distorted, but this is also a very unusual perspective and neglecting therefore.
The accompanying remote control also acts a bit cheap as in other part of this price range. Fortunately, Rollei has the frame as well as controls on the back donated, so that these can be operated completely over.
The menu is initially somewhat gewöhnungsbedürftigt, yet does not require a look at the manual. The adjustable parameters are always clearly enough but the unspectacular facilities. The display can adjust in brightness, contrast and color, which I liked, since the tastes are quite different.
There are various time parameters for the slide show and various animations between images. A random mode is on board. An overview of the present on the memory card also enables a direct selection of a single image. Here I had already experienced in other frames that you had to laboriously click through the pictures themselves. There's even a "data" - menu, with which the folder structure of the card or sticks can browse. A selected image will be placed in the thumbnail view. Even quite large JPEGs (8 MB) were presented here quickly, which I was pleasantly surprised. Again, I had much worse experiences.
Also good is the Kalerndermodus. Here is a slide show of images on the memory card is displayed next to the clock and the calendar month view also. If desired, I would have only one more variable in color representation of the calendar. It is good that the frame even with separation of power system forgets the time immediately. Thereby the automatic switch and Auschaltfunktion has meaning. Here you can specify a time and off for the border. Improve the Liese only if you could separately for weekdays set an appropriate time, but this I have yet seen in any context.
Rollei advertises the device with low power consumption and measured 5 Watt are in fact surprisingly little. Thus, the frame can also pursue a long time his purpose, without having to worry about high electricity bills.
Thus, the conclusion is accordingly: The Pictureline 8000 convinced. He does what he should, namely represent images pleasing good and are also in the handling and operation no riddles. Calendar mode and time program work well, the display has a good viewing angle stability, pictures can be good and browse the frame looks valent of what you want. In the price range is certainly a good choice.
