The designs are stylized and the text is virtually nonexistent. We are in a picture book, as announced, and not in an encyclopedia. A chapter of an encyclopedia supplement this book with interest, especially when prehistoric knowledge of the reader parent are not quite up to date ... Beyond the flat or rather this warning, this book is a wealth of information. It is very comprehensive (uses fire there discusses the different tools, food, magic, dreams ...), very playful (small prehistoric stickmen, the colors, the layout, the games make you want discover each page) and very intelligent (how, with almost no text, can we achieve understanding many things ??). In reality, for this book, the reader parent is not as it usually is. Here, it is the child who is active actor of his knowledge, his understanding; it is he who deciphers and built his knowledge. The presence of a parent is required because the book covers a lot of topics to decode, but the parent's role here is to accompany. After this book, the child of 6 years (more or less) becomes a small expert on prehistory, he understood the point.
