A port, yes, but ...

Brief history to clearly define what it is: Resident Evil 1 was released in 1996 on PlayStation. Having marked the minds forever, he was endowed with an amazing remake released in total exclusivity on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002.
This remake is so successful that it supersedes the original, instantly becomes the must of survival, it and are focused on the Wii. It is this version referred to here.

A port, oh yes!

Because nothing has changed on this version. If we expected the revised puzzles to take advantage of the special features of the Wii, it is a waste: they will not even have to turn the Wiimote to mimic the movement of a crank, for example.
So it is a game in all respects identical to that released on Game Cube which we have here.

Obviously, the handling is suitable for nunchuck duo / wiimote, take heart!
In this configuration keys "D" appears as the most relevant choice (I really fond), including a fast turn-around at the touch of button C nunchuck, while it will point the wiimote to the screen to aim his weapon.
This last function is rather sensitive and unstable, it is advisable for beginners to opt instead for the basic configuration. But when you control, it is really pleasant!

The great advantage of the Wii version is primarily to offer its entire adventure on a single medium, unlike the two discs of the GameCube version that required a change in the course of history. A rather disturbing error for a game that is based as much on player immersion.

By cons, annoying little detail: the connoisseur will be surprised that the room near the laboratory machine (towards the end of the game) became strangely silent ... very curious and frankly incomprehensible.

Apart from all this, Resident Evil is still bewitching, captivating, with a unique atmosphere and dressed in high-definition graphics worthy before the hour!
Proof that the masterpieces do not age. Resident Evil is one, do not miss the opportunity to discover it if you've never done, or immerse with delight in what is now THE classic videogame horror, macabre dance orchestrated with genius, a charset as has too little, a vintage.

A final word to say that if you discovered the series with RE4 and RE5, do not expect playing this Resident Evil wandering in a mansion by shooting the zombie happily with latte shots in well-nourished and gums solfate. .. here is the source of the concept, where the contrast voltage / appeasement fills the screen, where ammunition of the economy is needed, where it should sometimes avoid the fight in order to survive ....
