Customer Review

Why the Ascend G7?
-----------------------------------
After a few Samsung phones I had recently the Samsung Note 2. Here it embraces this. After almost a year and installed automatically be independently a Spiderman App Mist never happened, but repairs too expensive - and honestly tell me that Note 2 was also always been somewhat unwieldy, apart from the whole annoying bloatware times. A Samsung should not it be again. I have experience with the Huawei Mate - a great smartphone, but in a jacket pocket while cycling and at work in the work jacket it bothered me with his size but a little. Fortunately, the touch screen 2 is still working, so I only was able to even be bridged in the hope that he will not suddenly fail. It should therefore be a Huawei smartphone, especially since these are in all reviews always rated very well.

My demands and wishes
--------------------------------------------------
Ideal for me is a size of 5 to 5.5 inches (in no case less, otherwise I can not reasonably texts tap the then small keyboards), and as a senior, I prefer to read even a distinct and clear text size. My Applications for private management activities in a Kleingartenverein are following, which I have had good experiences with the listed apps:

- Appointment management (aCalendar)
- Task Scheduler (GTasks)
- Notes management (Note Everything)
- E-mail (preinstalled APP or APP GMX)
- Cost calculate (computer Plus)
- Internet (Dolphin)
- Occasional chatting and sending photo with family and friends (sayHey of simyo yes read that right, that's enough to me, I do not trust the security, the essence is in the process is free and otherwise we talk anyway prefer face to face)
- Read times, what's new (Online Newspapers v M. Reitenberger.)
- Printing and scanning (Epson iPrint)
- Read (Adobe Reader) PDF's
- Fotographieren times when I just about did not get my compact camera, ie the camera may not be grottenschlecht
- Photo editing - my photos are always so good that I have to edit or rarely wants ;-)
- Listening to the radio, yes, I do sometimes and do not always have a portable radio here (for the younger ones: that there was actually earlier times) happened but mostly only in bed
- TV (Live TV, ARD library, bar, ARTE, 3 SAT) and Pro TV as a TV-Zeitschritft
- Occasional video watching time with my granddaughter a fairytale or children's movie and ups, almost forgotten
- Calls sometimes and let me call

So let's look at Amazon, what's new, read reviews, compare prices, read reviews on the internet, compare smartphones and ... man oman, still have much to do in the garden. Had I not recently seen times on the website of Huawei past and saw the horny, uh great Ascend Mate 7. Next to the displayed Ascend G7. Both looked really good and sounded good, what is on offer there.

Okay, granted, just like I would have Huawei Mate 7 added myself. It is in spite of its 6-inch screen size 5 mm longer than the grade 2 with 5.5 inches, the width is almost identical, it is slightly thinner - but nearly 500 to spend on it? That was me then too much yet. Well, in one year, the price is certainly lower, but by then my notebook to carry around with me, I also did not want. Besides, I can not make calls. So I opted for the Huawei Ascend G7.

First impression and delivery
------------------------------------------------
The smartphone is now for four days in my possession. Currently Amazon has only the whites but is okay. What is out of the smartphone there? Of course, a power supply and cables, the latter can also be used to transfer data to the PC.

Then a very small operation book (155 pages) in seven languages. The German language takes 22 pages, three of them! Pages you know your telephone (1 page incl. Figure) Getting Started (1 page incl. Illustration) and further information (1 page). The remaining nineteen pages are security information (eg, interference with medical devices Explosive environment, road safety etc.), Personal Information and Data Security and Legal Notices. Otherwise, no manuals. Also on the website you will find no Huawei Download an instruction manual. That is really weak! I hope there is still something in the direction of Huawei. Okay, I'll go with the G7 also so along well, since everything (almost) is logical and self-explanatory. But half a point I draw from my review of the absence of a reasonable instruction manual.

In addition, there are earphones, a needle to open the SIM and SD slots and - and this is another outstanding feature of Huawei that rarely are other brands a bright Hard Case for the back of the smartphone in the delivery. But will still get me to protect the screen a Flipcase.

Appearance and haptics have a sophisticated look in my eyes. The smartphone fits comfortably in your hand. Nothing slick, the back slightly rough, with enclosed also slightly brushed bowl even better preserved, and all terminal edges clean and nicely worked just Huaweitypisch.

The screen dissolves with 1,280 x 720 px and is sufficiently bright. Individual pixels and jagged edges are not recognizable. Everything can be in my opinion of course with beautiful colors seen without the impression of quietschebunten candy colors to leave. Even writings can be seen clearly and without jagged edges. I like.

Facility
--------------------
Huawei smartphones have no app list but does not bother me, I do not necessarily need. The following scheme of order I (as in my previous smartphone) furnished me:

First screen multimedia apps: FM Radio, Music Player, Video Player, Gallery, Camera, possibly picture (in my case: Photo Editor and Aviary), video editing software (I do prefer the PC, the G7 also not pre-installed) as well as the TV-Apps and -Magazine

Second screen (HOME screen) Weather (weather app from Weather Online), file manager, calendar, tasks and notes management, email app, calculator

Third Screen Office Apps: Contact widgets for favorites (family members and close friends with me 8 people), online newspapers, Adobe Reader, Epson iPrint, clock, voice search and possibly Skype

Fourth Screen Other Apps: Folder Management (3G Watchdog, Avast antivirus app, Bitcasa, data backup, designs, settings), folder tools (Huawei File management, browser, Highlights, Kingsoft Office, Download, Editor, Screen lock, Hicare, Huawei Accessories, Calendar , magnifying glass, calculator, recorder, SMS Services, mirror, voice dial, flashlight, update program, Web to PDF, bet Rapp, Weather, Zenio) and a games folder if necessary. The names of the folders are arbitrarily changed, more can be created.

So that everything is clearly laid out. An app list can thus be easily replaced by the application of a few folders. As can be seen on the list is almost no bloatware on the G7. The demo games I immediately uninstalled what is not needed, you can disable or uninstall the same.

The lowest time series includes telephone, address, SayHey, messages (SMS) Manager and Dolphin. They have counted correctly: although at the top of only four apps fit next to each other, these are in the lower time series five apps. Below this is the navigation bar, in the order back / main screen (Home) / Task Manager can be changed via the settings menu. There is also the setting, the navigation bar if necessary hide itself (to a small arrow at the bottom left is displayed). Through a subsequent wiping up the bar reappears.

Adjusting can also be whether four or five rows are available for apps on every screen.

By the way, can turn the screen with a double knock, as I saw it at a LG G2. Unfortunately, the engineers have not thought about the end here, because you can turn off the G7 with the on / off switch. Too bad, but I can live with.

Software
-----------------
As listed above, I have my favorite apps. Otherwise I use the included apps. Here the tastes and needs are different, so I see no point in trying to convince someone of one or another app.

Huaweitypisch good I find:

- The app designs: nine designs are pre-installed, which set up in appearance (background and startup screen, app icons, font) arbitrarily and may be varied

- The Phone Manager with the following functions: Search problems, phone accelerator, harassment filters, energy saving, traffic manager, Notification Manager, App Lock, Do Not Disturb and info. Using various settings are possible, their description is beyond the scope here. Here, for example, ways to free up space; the Trash to empty (ie free up space) and Apps to close; which apps notifications (push messages) in the notification bar (top) may submit; blocking and intercepting messages, calls and creating a black list according to certain rules and filters; determine which apps are allowed to send via wireless or mobile data, or both; or determining what at rest (at night) may happen (eg accepted by whom calls), etc. The settings are really umfachreich and thoughtful. If you're willing to deal with this a little bit, the G7 can into the smallest areas set up and control. Great. Am willing for this to assign a whole point separately.

The FM Radio is unfortunately without RDS. The stations can, however, rename the event, so as to obtain a channel overview. Frequencies and station names can be found on the Internet. For half a point deduction.

(Shopping possibility accessories for Huawei) The Huawei offerings (Software) as Bitcasa (50GB Cloud Storage for one year for free), data backup, Hicare (access to Huawei services), Zinio (free digital magazines) and Huawei Accessories I have not tested, I have no use for this purpose at the time.

Camera
----------------
The main camera takes photos with 13 MP and autofocus, the front camera has 5 MP. Video resolutions are Full HD 1080 P (16: 9, stereo), HD 720P (16: 9, stereo), VGA 640 x 480 (4: 3) and MMS 176x144.

I wonder what I want? I've had enough, the ability to take photos in a good quality, if I just do not have my camera with me. I am fully satisfied with the quality of the photos and videos of the G7. I need better, I have my Sony RX100 or Nikon D40. These three options all my needs and situations are covered.

Accumulator
-------------
Have the first two days of course hours and a lot of tried and tested with the smartphone. Only on the second night I had to load the first time since the battery level had dropped to 23%. So I suspect that the battery will hold in my usage pattern and after it has been repeatedly charged loose three or four days.

Speakers &. Earphones
---------------------------------------------
The quality of earphones is well, let's say useful, but hardly bassy. A listening pleasure is thus not on. Heights I hear anyway not particularly good as I had recently ascertained during a visit in Wolf Center Dörverden. In a series of experiments there my hearing ended at 14,000 Hz. My granddaughter listens more.
So I tested my simple Panasonic Headphones (RP-HT030) for about 10 and wow because the bass is quite different over. Even the sound was so really good. Plugged into the hardware so but more in it, leave as the included earphones suspect. This, after all, but you can use as an antenna for the FM radio. Let's see if you can cut it and the listener, so that only the cable remains.

The speakers sound in my ears better than so many other smartphone I've owned, probably thanks to DTS. Of course you can not expect rich bass, and treble have stated above me their limits of perception. But after all, I still have a hi-fi system.

First conclusion
------------------------
My first conclusion of the Huawei Ascend G7: a really great smartphone that will satisfy a noble acting and attractive appearance and the available equipment all my needs. I do not need more. The price is reasonable, the smartphone worth its price. I'm sure I will discover a thing or two when I occupied myself once more intensively over a longer period with this smartphone. Summasumarum remain five stars that are in my opinion fully deserves.

I know this review has become a little long, I ask the excuse. You will of course not replace manual (it is then but too short), but only my first experience with the Ascend G7 play. If you have persevered it this far, thank you and hope to have helped you a little bit in your purchasing decision. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, as far as I'm capable of doing.
