The technology (which uses infrared radiation and ultrasound) seems very innovative.
The kit itself is quality: a metal storage box, pencil a little heavy but nothing insurmountable in use, a mine (teb) that slides well, with three free refills included. A small cloth bag is designed to carry pencil and "clamp" recognition spree.
The handling is classic, you put the CD into his computer and installs the program.
As with most things now record is ultra-basic, go search the internet for more (see link at the remark of this comment => go to the bottom left of the page to the English blue bubble "download" and select the right "user manual (pdf) / french to download the leaflet in French).
The only contents of more than 5 pages, very detailed, but discouraging. It feels it would take a one-week course in order to use the system !!
I'm sorry for the manufacturer, which offers here a certainly very advanced product, but I do not think that today many consumers are willing to spend hours mulling over the use of a product for them to win time.
The drawing function seems to be usable, it is tested by my daughters, I will say more if necessary.
For me this is the note taking feature that interested me, so I will say a bit more about it:
- First problem: lefties who write with twisted hand over the page (classic strategy not to drool ink) prevent the sensor to capture.
- Second problem, adjustable certainly seen as packaging promises made notes on A4 format, but I suffered during my tests: while I was in direct mode (ie with the "clip" recognition related the computer by USB cable, then we see appear on the screen in real time what is written, it then simply click on a tab "convert" to have the version in print) I n 'had the ability to write in a tiny part of about 5 cm by 3 cm! Of course one must be able to adjust it, but I would have liked something more intuitive. In other circumstances I would have tried the solution but the following point has deterred me.
- Third problem which seems to me, after my tests and reading the other reviews here, prohibitive for use in our country this system, very sophisticated, does not recognize the writing related. Even writing carefully, recognizing that you translated in gloubiboulga.
I did a test writing in script and it works well here.
But that's it big problem: I imagined a very cool system where I could quietly write quick notes with MON writing and then pour it in the proper on my computer in block letters (thus using the nomadic provided by the system). But if I have to take the language and apply myself to write in pretty script, I see no interest, directly as typing on my keyboard or resume my own notes then.
The Anglo-Saxons, unlike the French, learn how to write in script. Hence no doubt these promises so disappointing?
The system has a scalable option of gradual adaptation to the writing of the user, but starting so low, it does not seems absolutely playable.
- The last point that bothers me is we boasts an included software, you fall out on a software to download for a month trial before purchase. I have not found any code in the package or elsewhere to allow me a final free download.
To conclude: a product quality visibly, very (too?) Sophisticated, avant-garde itself, but that does not meet the expectations of ease of use, convenience and free created by the presentation.
At the moment I really do not see who I can advise; designers (many talented manga cartoonists around me) rather work with graphics pallets me it seems, and to their satisfaction. I do not think this pen would bring them something more.
